???Hayley is credited with co-writing "What you never know" but the song was featured on Sarah Brightman's "Harmen" album a while before "Odyssey" came into existance. I listened to the clip at it sounds exactally like Hayley's. So what did Hayley write?? This is rather confusing... Natasha

It's funny you should ask that, Natasha because I've been wondering the same thing for a while. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to ask her last week but, if we don't find out by any other means, I will try do to so next time I see her.

I think Hayley wrote this part. 'I am falling for you I am falling for you My heart's torn in two I am falling for you'
becaue Sarah's version doesn't have these. But I am not sure.
Cheers, Raymond

I wondered if it might be that but I am not familiar with Sarah's version so I can't be sure. I just felt it sounded a little different from the rest. Somehow, it adds *sparkle* to the song.

Look at the differences between Hayley's and Sarah's lyrics: What you never know won't hurt you What you never know won't lie What you never know won't desert you What you never know won't say goodbye What you never know won't hurt you What you never know won't lie What you never know won't desert you What you never know won't make you cry SARAH: What you never know What you never, never, never ... What you never know HAYLEY: I'm falling for you I'm falling for you My heart is torn in two I'm falling for you What you never know won't hurt you What you never know won't lie What you never know won't desert you What you never know - unless you try SARAH: What you never know won't hurt you HAYLEY: I'm falling for you I'm falling for you I'm falling for you So that's probably it. I like the part that Hayley added to it, it puts a lot of magic into the song. ~Someone

Ho Someone,
Is it just the words that have changed or is there an additional melody line anywhere?

Ok, so there is a difference. It was just a little weird hearing Sarah Brightman singing it a few years before Hayley did and then reading that Hayley co-wrote the song. Just didn't make any sense! lol. Thanks for pointing out the differences.

Um... Does it mean it was a bit inappropriate to say Hayley 'co-wrote' the song?

Hello Tinmeigut, No, not really. Hayley did, afterall, write two original verses in the song, so it would be very appropriate to say she co-wrote it. Any original words put into any piece of literature is known as 'co-writing'. I like Hayley's version much better, any way. Dori

I have a question... slightly on-topic, slightly-off, I suppose.
The song on the UK version of the CD is not the same as the song on the US version, at least not in iTunes. This CD is years old, and I am just now noticing! Stranger, I must've had the US version at one time (because I purchased the CD through iTunes US), lost it in a computer crash, then acquired the UK version (when I re-purchased old music, must've bought that one), starting listening to it again, and never noticed the difference. (Unless the US version has changed in iTunes since the year it was released.)
Did anyone else notice the difference in instruments? The US version is faster. I think I prefer the slower UK one, but maybe it's just because I've been listening to it lately.

Hello Cherany! The fast version was due to be released as a single in the UK, but it was shelved at the last minute. Personally I don't like the backing on the fast version. Richard
