When the first press hit about the forthcoming "Odyssey" I remember hearing a lot about Hayley duetting with two big male singers, Andrea Bocelli and Jose Carreras. Since then, we've all heard clips of the duet with Andrea and Hayley's excitement over it but there's been nothing about the duet with Carreras -- Its almost like there never was going to be a duet. Which is so weird. Does anyone know what happened?

Hi Natasha,
I think the suggestion of a duet with Jose Carreras may well have been a press rumour. I have heard nothing about any such thing and doubt very much if it was ever on the cards.
Keith.

Ah ok. To bad, lol. I would have loved them to record "All I ask of You." All in good time though. Maybe the next album.

Hi Natasha, I don't remember any rumours about a duet with Jose Carreras (although she has of course duetted with him live on stage) but there was certainly a report about a duet for the CD with Bryn Terfel. Well that didn't happen, or if it did, it didn't work and they dropped the idea. I don't mind really, as I think even the duet with Andrea Bocelli is "pushing it". If I buy a Hayley album I want to listen to Hayley. If I want to listen to Andrea, I will buy one of his many albums! Although I must admit, the Bocelli duet is growing on me. I would make one exception - having heard Hayley sing a duet of "Across The Universe..." with her sister Sophie, I'd go a long way to buy a CD (I don't mean DVD, lol) with THAT on it! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

AH, Bryan Terfel. Maybe I was mixed up, lol. Either way tomorrow is always another day. We can expect more great duets in the future!

I also remember hearing of a possible duet with Bryn but I'm sure I never heard any mention of Jose. As Dave has said, I would prefer Hayley CDs to feature only her voice but I would be overjoyed if Sophie was the one exception. Having said that, I wouldn't mind a CD featuring Hayley in duet with a different singer on EVERY track. Let's say 'Hayley Westenra and Friends'. And why not include Jose? ...And Bryn.... And Andrea... Aled, Russell, Katherine, Holly, Natasha, Kristyn, Keith, Richard, Dave, Belinda, Emmett, Gerrit, Lothar, Holger, Raymond.... etc etc. Sorry if I've missed anyone, you'll have to audition! OK, make it a double album! Roger

Well you missed me Roger !! Probably because I ducked !! If I was able to duet with Hayley, I have decided that it would have to be Hine e Hine, with me doing the Maori bit. Don't hold your breath though, those lyrics in Maori will be a pig to learn !!
One person is plenty enough in a duet !
I suspect there is a feeling of "am I good enough" when confronted with the reality of singing with Hayley.
A list of hopefuls, placed in order of merit, would start at no higher than 10th position.

Hello Natasha! I'm going to restore some sanity to this thread, but not a lot! Hayley has duetted with José Carreras on more than one occasion, but not on a CD. I had the pleasure of seeing Hayley and José perform "All I Ask Of You" from Phantom of the Opera at Hampton Court back in June. Their voices blended together so well that I really wanted to hear it again. Then they repeated it as an encore, and it sounded even better the second time. Whoopee!!! Sorry, I'm going to see Hayley again tomorrow, so I'm getting excited! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBye for now, Richard

Actually, Hayley and Jose really have duetted on more than one occasion. It is true they repeated 'All I Ask Of You' at Hampton Court but I think that was cheating, Richard! The first occasion was at the Royal Albert Hall when Hayley was Jose's guest on December 10th 2003. That night, their duets were: Ave Maria (Schubert} The Little Drummer Boy All I Ask Of You Silent Night Hayley's solos were: Amazing Grace The Lord's Prayer O Holy Night Mary, Did You Know? Pokarekare Ana It was a night which, like many, I will never forget. Roger

Hi folks, Actually, the first time Hayley sang with Jose Carreras was not in duet. It took place at the Faenol Festival in North Wales on Sunday, 24th August, 2003. Bryn Terel, Jose Carreras and Hayley sang Schubert's Ave Maria. In the words of Max Boyce "I know, 'cos I was there." Anyone who would like to see the video (15min 38sec) CLICK HEREKeith.

I remember there being an Mp3 version of "All I ask of You" which Hayley did in duet with Jose a while back. I didn't get to download it at the time even though I had planned 2. Is it still available some place?
