I was the solo piper playing along with Hayley when this was recorded. We were doing various concerts throughout New Zealand when, at one, we were told that a thirteen year old singing sensation would be singing Amazing Grace with us. I couldn't believe what I was hearing when she sang, it was an absolute pleasure playing with Hayley and am so glad that she is now regarded as having one of the sweetest voices on the planet! Which I agree with! Did anyone happen to be there?

Hello Piper and welcome to the forum. Although many of us have the recording, I think it is unlikely that any of us were present at the time as it was before most of us had heard of Hayley. Having said that, there is one member who just might have been!
Now Hayley has grown into a world class singer (which I'm sure you fully expected in 2001), you must be very proud to have been involved at that time.
Thank you for registering as a member and telling us your news. We hope to hear more from you in the future.
Best wishes, Roger

Hi Alan, Can I say how thrilled I am to hear that you have joined us here at 'HWI'? I think it goes without saying that you are somewhat of a V.I.P. yourself- if you were the lone piper who was playing on Hayley's live rendition of 'Amazing Grace' in 2001 In fact... guess what? You've just earned yourself one of these... if you'd like it? This is the 'Westenra of Christchurch NZ' tartan which I designed as a tribute to Hayley... It would be more than a pleasure to send you one of these Alan! If you'd like one please could you send me a PM with your full name and mailing address? Thanks! Perhaps you can post up that picture which you mentioned of Hayley on stage in 2001 for us? (please?) Incidentally, do these pictures mean anything to you? I'll give you a clue... The year was 1972 and the single was 'Amazing Grace' by musicians of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards... You can see this gold disc for yourself in the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards Museum within Edinburgh Castle... Hope to hear from you again soon Alan... I was extremely chuffed to read your post on the Forum! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Can't wait to see your picture(s) showing Hayley on the stage back in 2001 All the very best and a huge thank you! Greetings from Edinburgh! Andrew

Does anyone have a recording of it? We know what she sounds like with an entire pipe band but with a solo piper! Oh boy, that would indeed be a recording to covet. 3. Must have been a thrilling experience for you piper. Have you any more details to share and your memories of the occasion. When first told, before you heard her, I guess the prospect must have seemed unbelievable? Peter S.

In looking through my CD collection I thought I had two 'Pure's'. Glancing through a collection HW and Pure covers look very similar! Putting it on now! Peter S.

Thanks

I'd seen all the publicity about Charlotte Church's cd and had wandered off to find it when I heard Hayley for the first time.. Welcome to the forum ~Chris

Will post photo as soon as I work out how to do it? I take it you have to have the photo stored on a web site? Thanks Alan It costs nothing to join Photobucket. That is where many of our pictures derive, if you do not have your own web site. STOP!Before proceeding have a look on the technical board. It will give you advice in terms of sizing physical dimensions (no wider than 800 pixels I think) and size in terms of data, preferably under 100k. Do you have a simple version of photoshop or some other picture manipulation program? When you load to photobucket--directions seem to me easy to read on site--it will give you the URL Copy that and paste that into your post. Again, in the technical section there is advice on handling URLs. Essentially, it is simply a matter of pasting your URL into the post and then encapsulating it between the URL reference in the square above the funny faces above your edit post. I think that's it. I have to go out otherwise i would direct you more specifically. You caught me just as I was about to log off. Peter S.
