That's a bit of a bother ..... Anyway, I will go ahead with my visit to Cardiff - just a change of programme .... (cancelling the trip now leaves me out of pocket quite a bit - now I have a chance to explore Cardiff at leisure ....)

It has now been confirmed that tomorrow's event is definitely cancelled. It may be re-scheduled for some time in June but the exact date is not yet known.Roger May I suggest we all HANG ON TO OUR TICKETS, just in case they don't start off the revised date as a new event! Peter S.

(cancelling the trip now leaves me out of pocket quite a bit - now I have a chance to explore Cardiff at leisure ....) Gerrit Well make certain you explore the castle, walk around the old town centre and along the river. I think that just about covers it. Were we able to stop Thomas or is he coming for the 9th either as well as or anyway? Just as well Andrew didn't fly down! Oh, and in case Hayley reads this, Hayley, we still love you and are right behind you. You've got a good record. Some of us know from direct experience as well as reports that you've turned in an excellent performance when you've been physically off-form--and we didn't notice! Thank you to Bedlam Management for thinking of us and firing an early-enough warning shot for most of us to be saved unnecessary expense. Very difficult decisions to make both in the decision itself and in the timing of notice determining the need to make a decision. For the record, those of us who made the first cancellation, while obviously we were disappointed for all reasons for everyone that it was cancelled, we had a good evening 'down the road' getting to know one another better and that made it a pleasant evening--if a rather long way to 'go down the road for a drink' in the 'local'!!!! The beauty of advance warning on this site is that we can keep in touch up until the last moment we need to leave from our various destinations. Do we need to keep a sharp eye out here on Sunday for the Monday or is Cardiff indeed down to 'other than Hayley's health'? Roger? Peter S. PS: In case there is any doubt about Hayley's participation in this event (due to the cancellation of her appearance in Cardiff tomorrow), Bedlam Management have confirmed in the last few minutes that it is going ahead. For those of you intending to go, I'll see you there! Roger Thank goodness for that i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif It would have been too heart wrenching to not see Hayley twice!! Grant Yes. VERY ORFF indeed! We've got to get this girl sorted out. There we were beginning to be accustomed to seeing her twice in the same weekend. I was wondering if we could ever manage to see her three times in the same week and then it turns out we will only see her once!!! Like normal. Very orff indeed! NO, Hayley, I am sure you know that is all in jest. I do know we are very privileged the times we do see you and NO we most certainly do NOT take those moments carelessly, we treasure them and know we are very fortunate. Peter S.

Peter S. Well not here, Peter, because it's the wrong thread! But yes, it would always be advisable to check the appropriate thread on the day of an event in case of any last-minute changes. Roger

Nicely put Peter I'm sure Hayley knows how much we value any time we get to spend with her and that we often have a joke at each other's expense from time to time. I also would not be surprised to hear that Hayley values the time she spends with "us". Anyway, at least the fact that some of the most prolific posters won't be racing to a Cardiff rendezvous will mean that we will be around to watch Stephany make "maestro" Are you listening Stephany? Only 9 more post and then............ Grant

I was aware that Stephany's milestone was imminent and I would not want to miss it. Perhaps that explains the cancellation; Hayley didn't want to miss it either! Roger

Stephany is a female, right? The feminine is "maestra". (Italian is very gender-oriented. In fact at the opera you're supposed to shout "bravo" to a tenor and "brava" to a soprano.)

Hi everyone, Thank you for the kind comments. But aren't you slightly off topic? You're right though, Grant, I'm sure Hayley know how much you all value the time you get to spend with her so she'll probably make sure cancellations don't happen anymore. It must be a horrible decision for her - deciding to cancel or not. If she's the one taking the decision, of course.

Hi All,
Just back from my trip to Cardiff. I went to see the Cardiff Castle (just opposite my hotel, it was. I had a long walk down Bute Park to Llandaff and back to the hotel .....
and .... I attended a concert at St. David's Hall on Saturday! You wouldn't have guessed it, but Aled Jones happened to be on for the last concert of his Spring tour. I just walked past St. David's Hall - and it said "On Tonight". I didn't hesitate long, walked in and asked if there were any tickets left. There were - I got one in the third row right in front of the podium!
Not a bad alternative to Hayley and Holly, considering both have been Aled's guest artist in recent years ..... And also considering that Aled has been one of my favourite singers for decades. I even managed to meet some of the people involved with Aled's forum.
I also had a long telephone conversation with Trixie Holyoake, Holly's mother, so all in all it ended up quite a worthwile visit!

Hi Gerrit,
I have spent all weekend wondering what you might find to do in Cardiff. It seems you did rather well. I have seen Aled perform a couple of times but never in his own show. I must put that right sometime.
Glad you had a good trip.

Hi Roger, Well, the fact that Aled was in concert was completely unexpected to me . On the whole though, when I left for Cardiff a few days ago, I had been asking myself the same question .... What am I going to do? Interestingly, there was another major event going on - a massive boxing tournament at the Millennium Stadium. It explains why it was so difficult to get accommodation in Cardiff during the Easter weekend - as far as I know, the Millennium stadium was completely sold out for this event, and the tournament finished AFTER all last public transport services had departed, so people from out-of-town were relyin on hotel accommodation. The boxing tournament involved some of Britain's best known boxers - Amir Khan and Joe Calzaghi. Aled Jones even made jokes about it at his concert - he was wondering if some people at his concert hadn't accidentally got lost and ended up at the wrong venue ... (St David's Hall and Millenium Stadium are that close to each other, a good boxer might be able to thump his opponent out of the Stadium and into St. David's Hall, where the sweet strains of music might have healing properties for the victim ...) My hotel room actually looked out on the Millennium Stadium - and ever since my stay there, I have been wondering. It was the Angel Hotel - but really, what so angelic about having boxers as your neighbours? Angelic voices are more likely to emanate from St. David's Hall .... Gerrit P.S. I can't get the tune of "Angel" out of my mind now - especially with this reference to this "... dark cold hotel room ..." P.P.S Roger: I will consider attending a concert by Hayley and Holly at Broadcasting House if it is scheduled again, but I can't guarantee at this stage I would attend ...

Hi everyone, Just returned from a trip to Bristol, where I was staying for the concert because of the boxing in Cardiff, had a nice time visting the harbour, walking round the S.S. Great Britain, launched from Bristol in 1843, and just exploring the city centre for a bit in the glorious sunshine we had. Shame about the concert, can completely understand though, really hope Hayley is fine and it can go ahead at another time. I would still love to go if I can. Cheers David

Hehe David, Let's hope we won't have our nose flattened the next time Hayley tries to land a few musical punches in Cardiff Cheers, Gerrit

So did anyone uncover why this was canceled? Inquiring minds want to know.
