I hadn't read Grant's account of Manchester prior to this, but I would be remiss if I didn't say I don't like what I read. It isn't for us as fans to "run interference" or make official sounding announcements, or lie to deter autograph hunters, even if we have the best of intentions. As per usual, you're over reacting and I disagree whole heartedly about what fans should or should not do in such circumstances. I also consider myself to be one of the last people who would try to deter anyone from meeting Hayley - just the opposite in fact. This particular occasion was very different and one I never wish to repeat. Everyone was very upset and just wanted to get their equipment and belongings onto the tour bus and be gone. I had spoken to a couple of the band as I reported so was well aware of the situation yet, there were a few calous bystanders (I won't call them fans - they're not deserving of that) who were determined not to go home empty handed and were intent on getting to Hayley to have their items signed. I felt I was in a position to deter them from getting to Hayley and did so; I'm also sure that Dave realised what I was doing and why. Grant

Hi Martin Many thanks Grant for the final chapter of your report. Regarding the last paragraph I think Sara is still trying to get her head around us lot at concerts but she is getting there!
Martin Have been meaning to reply to this Sara is certainly beginning to recognise faces and when I told her about spending more time waiting at the stage door for Hayley than watching her perform, I elaborated by explaining that we make a social occasion of it and usually have a meal together before the show. I think she was suitably impressed and at least now shouldn't think that we're a bunch of aging groupies! Best wishes Grant

Hi Dave Hi Grant, you may have yourself a little piece of music history there, as it was the final issue under its' then owners, It has today been taken over by new owners to save it from closure, and they have issued the following statement: I have to admit to being a little confused! According to Wikipidia, Music Week was sold to Intent Media in June this year and all the contact details on the web site have been IM since I started looking when Hayley's article was previewed. OK, just had a closer look at the mag and the publisher is shown as United Business media Best wishes Grant

Hello everyone Managed to get a copy of Music Week eventually i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif No luck in Derby but a very helpful sales assistant in W.H. Smith phoned through to the Nottingham branch for me and established that they did have it in stock. Jumped on the Red Arrow express bus and by 11.30 had my grubby little hands on a copy :rollin Not surprising it's hard to find and only has a circulation of around 5000 copies at £5.15 a pop. Anyone else interested, they still had four copies when I left. Best wishes Grant

Thanks Jillian I'm glad that Hayley's managed to put the difficult times behind her. Having overcome troubles once makes it easier to confront them head on the next time they rear their ugly head. I'm sure you're right, but I'm also sure that finding "the right guy" has made the biggest difference to Hayley - and it's been noticeable too Incidentally, the actual picture in the paper was full length - will post a scan when I have a moment. Best wishes Grant

Hello Richard
Thank you for posting the Sunday Telegraph interview - I just shot down to the village and managed to pick up a copy of the paper - I agree Jillian, it is a remarkable interview but I'm very pleased with the depth and openness of it and that Hayley can now talk about it and put it firmly behind her.
I remember that fateful, dark day in Manchester very well and it still brings me close to tears. It was 17th November 2008 and just Dean McCarten and I from HWI waiting at the stage door to see Hayley and she did stop to speak briefly. We knew she hadn't been well and were relieved that the concert was going ahead.
Two hours later it was a very different story. This is what I wrote at the time ....
I don't suppose for a minute that I was the only one worrying about Hayley at the time, but I think I would have been devastated if I'd known how Hayley really felt and that her career could have ended right there.
Come February 2009 it was a very different story, particularly St David's Hall Cardiff on 23rd - I had already seen Hayley several times earlier in the month but, on this occasion, Arnaud carried her giggling and squealing from the stage door and deposited her at our feet; Just Mark, Roger, Gordon and I; to spend a few priceless minutes with a now very happy and contented Hayley.
I don't think I realised until now, how lucky we were!
Love you Hayley!
Best wishes Grant

Hello everyone Does anyone know where to get a copy of Music Week - I gather from Dave that it may be hard to find as it's essentially a music business magazine/paper and doesn't have a very large circulation. Can't go searching today anyway as I'll be out in the wilds of Nottinghamshire all day Best wishes Grant

Hello Maya and thank you for your kind words Some of my friends had affected by the earthquake and the Tsunami and some lost their lives. I thought Hayley was selecting and singing A Thousand Winds thinking the devastation in CHCH and Japan and the song was a message to us from Hayley. I had wondered what prompted Hayley to select for, and begin her concert with, A Thousand Winds. Nothing was said to suggest you are right in your thinking BUT it is the sort of thing that Hayley might think to quietly do as an act of remembrance. Best wishes Grant
