Hi Donna, Being from Cape Breton, I imagine it is almost obligatory to like Celtic music, isn't it? Despite being in southern England, I love it too. In answer to your question, we currently have 10 Canadian members but I don't necessarily know from which part of the dominion they come. To make up for that missing detail, I will volunteer the fact that those ten members have made a combined total of 1294 posts! With your help, I'm sure that number will increase! Roger

Well, thanks to all for the welcome messages! I don't know what thread to put this on...so here goes. I am from Cape Breton (Maritime province of Nova Scotia) but I am at University in Windsor, Ontario (west of Toronto about 4 hours) studying drama and voice. Hi Donna! I shouted for joy when I read that you are a Caper! You'll have heard of The Cottars and Natalie MacMaster then? Hayley performed in Port Hawkesbury in 2006 at Celtic Colours alongside Natalie. A DVD of this is out!. Please find our forum's photos and discussion of Hayley's visit HEREand HERE. There is a little corner of Atlantic Canada at my forum linked below I wish you much success in your studies, Donna, and I look forward to talking about beautiful Cape Breton Island! Although I've never been there, I understand the smiles are longer than the causeway! Joe

Thanks Roger for the info about the Canadians on the forum! Maybe some of them could make themselves known and let me know where they are from! I like university here in Windsor, but miss home alot!
So, Joe, how do you know so much about my home island? Yeah, for SURE I know Natalie- I LOVE her! And you know how she does a huge fundraising event in the Maritimes. And I also have of course heard the Cottars.
Going to check out your links to Hayley in Port Hawkesbury....I missed her performing there. That would have been cool.
Donna

And I also have of course heard the Cottars. Hi Donna, I have felt a close bond with Cape Breton through her music and people. The shutting down of the coal mining industry was also experienced in my town. Although this seems unlikely now, I had hoped that Allister MacGillivray would write a song for Hayley. Take care, Joe

Hi Donna! Welcome to the forum. My welcome is a little belated, but no less warm. I have a deep connection to Celtic music. In fact, I'm singing a song right now called "Gartan Mother's Lullaby" also called "Celtic Cradle Song" Enjoy the forum, and I look forward to reading your posts. <3 Caitlin

Well, thanks to all for the welcome messages! I don't know what thread to put this on...so here goes. I am from Cape Breton (Maritime province of Nova Scotia) but I am at University in Windsor, Ontario (west of Toronto about 4 hours) studying drama and voice. I first saw Hayley Westenra on tv with Celtic Woman, who I have seen in concert on the east coast. I adore Celtic music ( it is part of my heritage) and so I love some of Hayley's songs. You all seem to know alot about her - I admit I don't, but have been dropping into your forum for a year or so and have heard clips of her performances and seen lots of photos, and I have enjoyed it. I am also interested to know - how many Canadians are on the forum? Any other east coast-ers? Thanks again for the welcome! Donna I love Cape Breton!!!!!!! I live in Canada, not geographically/physically, but its a long story so PM me if you want to know about it. Since I don't physically live in Canada, I can live where I want in it, so- I live in Cape Breton too!

Hello Northern Lights! You're confusing me too. Are you quite sure you can't see the Southern Cross in the night sky? Richard

I think I'm quite sure, but I can't read the constelations- except for Orion and one of the Dippers, i forget which!
I see the Southern Cross in the day sky instead! LOL!
Sorry to be confusing everyone. If one member had to be thrown off for lack of sanity, it would peobably be me!

I suppose that this is the thread where we newbies introduce ourselves.
I've been a Hayley-fan for a little over a year now. A friend told me about Celtic Woman, and that soon lead me to Hayley's website. I was drawn to her special voice and her equally beautiful personality.
HWI is the best Hayley fan site I've ever seen. You all are doing a great job! I've been exploring the HWI website and forum for a long time and enjoying all the news and media. I finally decided that it was about time to join in.

Hi Sonata and welcome to the forum. You are quite right about the welcome thread and definitely right about HWI! You've obviously been checking us out for a while and I hope you enjoy your time with us. We are a very friendly bunch and do everything we can to support Hayley and her family. If you have not done so already, check out some of the concert threads. Recent concerts at Croydon and Buxton have been well documented with reports and pictures! I look forward to hearing more about how you discovered Hayley. Best wishes Grant

Welcome Sonata. If that is your real name, it is a lovely one! If you want to do something for Hayley, there is still time to vote for Hayley's album treasure at www.classicalbrits.co.uk if you have not already done so. Voting is open to people overseas, but today is the last day.
