Stephany, the nearest tube station to the venue is South Kensington. From there, it is about a ten minute walk (perhaps less) up Exhibition Road. I stand corrected! Best wishes Grant

Hi Grant and Roger, Thank you very much for the information. Unfortunately many hotels around South Kensington are out of price and/or have no more single rooms left for the 8th of May (I wonder why ). My top choice would be near Earls Court Station. If it's not too far, I'll go on foot. Otherwise I'll just take the underground from South Kensington. Do you know when the event starts and at what time we're supposed to arrive to see the artists on the red carpet? That's something I don't want to miss! I can't wait Love, Stephany

Hello everybody! When the tickets go on sale, the event should appear on the Royal Albert Hall's website HERE. I've added the date to the title of this thread. 93 days to go! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifSee you there, Richard

Hi everyone!
I phoned the RAH Box Office this morning. As expected, tickets are not on sale yet because they have to await the agreement of the promotors before booking commences. Based on previous years, they say that is likely to be in late February or early March.

Hi Stephany, I think the event usually starts at 8 o'clock but we need to be there long before that if we are to see the artists arriving which is one of the best photo opportunities you will ever get. I think many of us were there last year by about 5 o'clock and even that wasn't really early enough. I think we should aim for 4.30. Roger

Hi Stephany,
I have stayed at the Comfort Inn Earls Court twice and found it to be ok. Sometimes they have good rates at short notice, the best rate at present for 8th May is £54.00. Hope this helps.
Lots of Love
Gordon

Hi Everyone Potentially this could be another big HWI gathering. So that we know before we buy tickets, are the Stalls or Arena the preferred seating area? (Don't forget that the Stalls are not in front of the stage but the Arena is! ). Martin

Hi Martin, For the CBAs, the Arena will not be open to the public. It will be filled with tables where the nominated artists and their entourages are seated. Stalls Block H is highly recommended! Roger

Hi Roger, Martin and everyone
Thanks for the latest info on this event. I have some accommodation provisionally booked and will now await details of tickets before booking my seat in Block H.
No doubt we will see Hayley in a new dress.
Best wishes Grant

Hi everyone,
I hope to make it to this as well.
Are the seats reserved when you book or do you just buy for a particular block and then arrive early to claim your seat?
Thanks,
James

Hi Mark and Caitlin, Glad to hear you can make it. I hope Ludovico Einaudi will be there as well. Seeing him perform at the Royal Albert Hall would be incredible. Quick question: is it possible to go on foot from Gloucester Road (or Earls Court) to the RAH? Because I'm trying to find a place to stay which wouldn't be too far from the venue and there are plenty of nice hotels around these two stations. Thanks, Stephany I have it in mind and Richard may be able to confirm or correct me but I believe RAH has its own underground station! They just didn't connect it! Or am i confusing myself with the Museums down the road? I do know an underground station in that area does exist but for some reason it was never used. Doesn't help you today, I know, but something just suddenly caught my fancy so I thought I would mention it! Peter S.

Hello Peter! I'm not aware that a station was ever built, but there have been aborted schemes to link the Royal Albert Hall with South Kensington Station by an underground tramway. There is a very detailed article about the history of the hall HERE, which includes this paragraph:- At least we can still walk part of the way to the Classical Brits through the subway, but it will probably be closed in the late evening after the event. Post 43, knew I could rely on you, Richard! Thank you.
Unfortunately write-ups on and extracts from do not provide any answers but I have discovered Abandoned Stations of London's Underground , London's Disused Underground Stations and London's Secret Tubes the latter being about war-time special builds or closures of public utilities are available on Amazon.
Interesting. There are more 'lost' stations than I ever knew. Perhaps I was thinking of one somewhere else (56 times somewhere else it seems)! If that figure is correct, how amazing they are mostly forgotten?
