Tonight's the night if you are film fans!
Peter S.
Postscript. Lifted the following from the BBC site. This follows separately to the no. 38 programme (assorted film music) and is numbered concert 39 About this event Spaghetti Western Orchestra
The five inventive multitaskers of the Spaghetti Western Orchestra have their own way of presenting film music in concert.
Fascinated by the scores of Ennio Morricone, they have devised an unclassifiable entertainment in which his epic soundtracks for film maker Sergio Leone are recreated with extraordinary virtuosity on instruments both conventional and rather less so.
'We really embraced the absurdity of a bunch of Aussie guys trying to do what Morricone did with a cast of hundreds and so we went about listening to the music and exploring the idea that every sound is equal and giving equal importance to all sounds.'
Expect a loose narrative, new uses for the asthma inhaler and the cornflake packet, and a rich harvest of post-modern laughs.
There will be no interval

Hi everyone,
Just got back from this Prom, it was very good, especially 'Cinema Paradiso' (of course!); Star Wars and the James Bond themes were good too. Very pleased to say that in the concert programme Hayley got a brief mention at the end of the profile of Ennio Morricone: "....has recently recorded an album of his songs with Hayley Westenra."
Also, there is a full page colour advert for 'Paradiso'. Well done to Decca for taking the opportunity to advertise in the programme, I was hoping that Hayley would get some publicity at this Prom.
Best wishes,
David M

Yes I'm watching it on BBC4. Interesting that Hayley's friend Chloe Hanslip performed. (Remember she was in the car with Hayley outside Cadogan Hall a few years ago ?) www.bbc.co.uk/i/b0137tj9/Chloe is on after 19 minutes and again around 1hr 12 mins.

Yes I'm watching it on BBC4. Interesting that Hayley's friend Chloe Hanslip performed. (Remember she was in the car with Hayley outside Cadogan Hall a few years ago ?) I had not known that, Jeff. I did feel there was a golden opportunity missed BUT we don't know when what knowledge was available to the right people at the right time or whether Hayley was free to have been in anyway involved, even to pre-record an interview. However, context. Really this was a retrospective. Hayley's effort is a brand new initiative so really, in a way, her latest work did not fit in. Peter S.
