(This is a poll -- please vote!)
I just got back from a holiday visit with relatives back east. I took with me Winter Magic for everyone to listen to on Christmas Eve. To my horror half the people started singing along to Hayley's carols -- songs that sound best with Hayley alone. The colossal nerve, i thought!
Even though I was annoyed in the extreme I graciously kept it to myself. Then I got to wondering: Do fans of Hayley ever sing along to her, or they like me and wouldn't dare do such a thing (because it just ain't right to intrude on her exquitely wonderful voice)?
Take this poll and let us know where you stand on this important issue. Thanks!

Well, I could never sing along to Hayley because I warble like a banshee! :rollin Even I can't stand the sound of my own voice! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifThough, I suggest that you haven't heard anything until you've listened to my friend Seb singing along to Wuthering Heights!! That would make even the banshees cry! :rollin

Actually, I like to sing along to any song I listen to, specially when I am alone (I am not a good singer). And Hayley isn't an exception. There are times I feel like just listening and there are tmes that I just can't keep from singing along my favorite songs I kinda think of it as sharing precious moments of fun with her, even when it's just a recording and I am listening to it all alone.
So, yeah, with Hayley I sing along maybe a 20% of the ocassions... And soon, when I get my Celtic Woman Songbook, I'll try to play along. I don't think it is unrespectful or bad, but, yeah, probably with such an amazing singer, I would highly recommend everyone to just listen the first time you hear a new song by her, so you can fully appreciate it.

I have no singing talent whatsoever and wouldn't depress myself by trying to sing along to Hayley. I can sing along with someone like Madonna or the Spice Girls (and even that's a struggle) but wouldn't do it with any real singers.
I thought this thread was about people singing along with Hayley at concerts. Ha. If it was about that, I will say this now. NEVER sing a long with Hayley at concerts! Argh! Paid to listen to Hayley, not tone deaf audience members! XD XD
What grapes me is when my boyfriend and I are listening to Josh Groban in his car, and he tries to sing along with his monotonous bull frog B1-A1 vocal range. Argh! Shut up! Just shut up! It has become a rule that he is not allowed to sing Josh Groban, but he sometimes breaks it... to wind me up. XD It works, so I can't hold it against him! XD

Hi All, Well, there is a video on record where you can hear me singing along with Hayley, if you are brave enough. Embarassing is the word. www.mediafire.com/?qviwqdiitmbBTW the lady with the white hair who gives Hayley the flag is my wife. I have no shame! Martin D

Carols and hymns are meant to be joined in with, It is a communal raising of the spirits, to cause a feeling of togetherness. I often wonder, at concerts, most of Hayley's audiences are extremely quiet. But it would be wonderful for Hayley to hear an audience sing along with her to one of the songs she has written herself .. I believe from what I have read of almost any singer songwriter that this is the greatest thrill of all.The greatest compliment an audience can pay a songwriter is to know their material well enough to be able to sing along with it. Or better still to be able to sing a verse while the singer remains silent and just enjoys the moment. Many singers will encourage audience participation.. Judy Collins for one, did it recently in Dublin with Amazing Grace.. the audience seemed to enjoy it..But it sure ruined my recording It did seem to cause a sense of good feeling among the audience though. I was quite touched by it. So start learning those songs folks......Practice .....Practice......Practice...... Majesty is one I love to sing along with (and I am about as Christian as a Minaret or a handful of Roman nails) Now is the Hour is another, but I need more practice on the Maori.. The car, on my own, is my favourite place for this carry on.. Ye see, the horn doesn't work so I open the window and sing...

Martin D I think under the circumstances it was quite appropriate to sing along, even the conductor turned and raised his baton to the audience to encourage them... Though that young singer seemed at a bit of a loss at the start of the piece , watching the conductor for her queue to come in methinks.. Martin.. I won't be using your video down at my local "Republican" pub to win Hayley new fans.. They'd kneecap me I'll just keep it to myself I did hear people at one or two venues in Ireland join in for a few bars with Hayley on Danny Boy, but they soon shut up when they heard the quality of Hayley's rendition...

Oh, now that you mention Danny Boy... I recall reading (or hearing in a video, not sure) about some of the Hayley's most emotive and special experiences... But it was Hayley who joined and sang along with another artist. Let's see if you know what I am talking.

What an amusing topic! I (try to)sing along, but I can't sing...must be the genes, cause my dad is tone deaf... He tries singing along with Hayley and meanwhile I'm thinking: 'doesn't he realise he won't get any better?!' He can't even whistle straight.... Well I always skip the high notes IF I do any effort to sing along, especially the ones in 'Never Say Goodbye'.... But I would never sing along with people around me, cause I'd hate to annoy them... i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif And myself... So I think I share your opinion Steve... Sharon

Martin.. I won't be using your video down at my local "Republican" pub to win Hayley new fans.. They'd kneecap me I'll just keep it to myself It reminds me that many years ago my brother and his mate went over to the Rupublic for a holiday (taking their guitars). The had an arrangement with the landlord of a pub that they could camp for nothing behind it if they provided the entertainment in the evenings. It was quite bizarre, two Englishmen leading the singing of those traditional anti-British "rebel" songs! Sorry, off topic I know..... Martin D

I will sometimes sing along but am not aware that I'm doing it. The first time I realized it was when my wife started laughing at me trying to sing along in Japanese. :je It must have sounded absolutely horrid.

Now and again I find myself singing along to Hayley's songs. But, mostly I like to just listen to the beauty of Hayley's voice, even if I've heard that particular song a hundred times. I've never sang at any of Hayley's concerts. I don't think I would unless she asked for the audience to join in. Hearing Hayley sing live is an incredible experience. Goosebumps is a frequent occurance, so I wouldn't want to ruin the experience by singing myself. But, as mentioned earlier, I'm sure its a great thrill for an artist to have the audience sing a song that they wrote. Well, unless its Christy Moore. At his 'Live At The Point' concert in 1994, upon singing the first line of a song, the audience joined in. So he stopped singing, and jokingly said, "I spent two days writing this song, now for jaysus sake, would you ever listen to it!"

I can't help but sing along. I often do it without realizing it. I like to sing, and am not the worst singer you ever heard; I used to be in choir. But if people are around, whether they're true Hayley fans or not, I don't do it. For one thing, I'm very self-concious, and I want people to hear Hayley. However, there are plenty of times when I listen to Hayley's voice, especially at my favorite parts of the song. Usually those parts are too high for me, anyway! I notice that my answer is in the minority, because most of the fans here have much lower voices than Hayley and I do.
