Hi all,
Thanks for the report and photos Martin.
I think perhaps Hayley's responce shows that she DOES read this forum. She wanted to clear up any doubts we had about her willingness to be photographed after what was said at Gawsworth. She must have read some of the comments. Good on her.
I think the dress is another indication too. I remember when she wore it for the iTunes show, there were one or two derogatory comments about it, unjustified in my opinion, which is perhaps why she didn't wear it again. Then a few weeks ago you might remember I posted a picture from iTunes of Hayley with a bottle of champage and glasses, and wearing that dress, which prompted several complimentary posts about it from various people. I wonder if that is what persuaded her to start wearing it again?
Paddy, I got you wrong. I thought it was "Danny Boy" she sang for you!!!
Martin

Hello everyone Many thanks for the reports and photo's so far - I was delighted to hear that the weather improved for the concert itself, but very disappointed that none of you took to the water beforehand (on second thoughts ..... ) He told me that photography had been banned the previous evening owing to a request from the owner of Gawsworth Hall. That is interesting. I remember Timothy making a similar announcement at the last concert I attended there, but Hayley clarified that it was "no flash photography". It may actually have been after the interval that she mentioned it so I wonder if Hayley talked him round. Good for her if she did! Best wishes Grant

I'm glad a number of you braved the British summer to attend this concert and to bring reports and photos to the rest of us. Sadly as I couldn't make it that means no outdoor concerts this year Great photos Martin, we really are getting spoilt with the number of photographers on this forum and the accessibility of quality digital cameras at affordable prices.

I was at the concert last night and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it (this is the first live event I have been to). I managed to get there fairly early and had a good seat in the third row. Having driven up the M3 in the rain I was really surprised (and delighted) that the weather was so clement.
I was sorry that she didn't sing Never Say Goodbye as this is a personal favourite of mine. However, all in all I thought that it was a very well balanced set. I will certainly go to other concerts.

Hello Gerald. Richard mentioned to me that you were going, but I had no idea what you looked like to spot you! Maybe next time!

Did Hayley sing Never Say Goodbye again? Hi Paddy, As far as I know, Hayley hasn't sung 'Never Say Goodbye' since the Pure and Winter tours of 2004. Then again, her early recordings included 'Never Say Goodbye' and 'Time To Say Goodbye'. Well if she can't make her mind up... Roger

Hi Roger As far as I know, Hayley hasn't sung 'Never Say Goodbye' since the Pure and Winter tours of 2004. This is all Karsten's fault :2fun: From his review of Gawsworth Song list:
Prayer Scarborough Fair The Water is wide Songbird Raven - Vivaldi-Medley Raven - Gabriel's Oboe Raven - Firedance Mummer's Dance Amazing Grace Shenandoah Danny Boy
Raven - Bolero I know You By Heart Never Say Goodbye Pokarekare Ana River of Dreams Talk To Me Raven - Ashokan Farewell Raven - Hungarian Dance (Brahms) Santa Lucia Both Sides Now Wuthering Heights encore: Hine Maybe he meant to say "Never Saw Blue" which Hayley usually sings at that point Best wishes Grant

Hi Grant, Ah, I had missed that. I wondered why that song was suddenly being mentioned! At least in quoting it, you have turned it blue so, anyone who hasn't seen blue like that before... er... has now! Roger

Martin You did indeed get it wrong but not in the way you think. Danny Boy is probably one of the two last songs I'd choose to hear - even from Hayley. Amazing Grace is the other one. Paddy

Hi Paddy,
And I thought she had added Danny Boy at Beaumanor in case any Irish people in the audience were offended by all the British patriotic songs. Perhaps she did! I'm, sure she knows you can't be too careful. And she is pretty astute at such things!

Hi all, 24 hours ago we had our interval in Hampton... I'm just back from the UK and don't want to hesitate posting some pictures following Martin's footsteps (i.e. his very impressive photos, of course )
