Hi Joe,
In case Nicola isn't around for a while, perhaps I could answer your question.
It is a series on BBC1 entitled 'When Will I Be Famous" which, as its title suggests, features new performers (from any field of entertainment) who may or may not be famous one day. Hence our incredulity that Libera should appear on it when they have clearly been establsihed for several years.
I didn't watch it so I cannot comment on Libera's appearance.

Hi ya Joe, Like Roger, I didn't watch it either. I always watch the end of it because I switched channels waiting for another programme, though I can't remember what at the moment... but I saw Libera in a quick clip, and a judge seemed to say to them 'This is what it's all about'. I'm not really sure. The prize for winning this talent competition is £10,000 and of course, the chance to be 'famous'. And like Roger said, that hardly seems like a sort of prize that Libera needs. I know their albums are hardly ever chart topping, but they do constantly have steady sales, even if not that many, each week. They must have had over 6 or 8 albums? (think of the time they were under a different name too). It's just weird. And I know I'm not a steady member, Roger. I come and go like the wind. I haven't had time for any internet activities for about a month now since I got my new puppy who consumes all of my time if I'm not at University. I literally have no time to myself. I'm waiting to go for a seminar so I have a little breather to come on here. I have been so out of touch, I only found out Hayley was releasing a new album when I got an advert from UJC through the post only on Monday! I can't believe I almost missed the fact she was releasing an album! I must have been sleeping under a rock!

H Roger and Nicola, I just got an e-mail from the Libera mailing list. Libera's performance of 'Sanctus' was voted top act on "When Will I Be Famous". As this week's winners, Libera will appear again on the show next Saturday, 24th February at 7.35 pm to compete against a new line-up of variety acts. You can find out more at www.bbc.co.uk/whenwillibefamous/contestants/index.shtmland www.libera.org.uk

I heard the show was one of the worst programmes on telly. And I'm not surprised, most of the acts are terrible. I did like the dancing dog though. I'm not really a big fan of Libera so when they were on the show I didn't recognise them - I thought they were a tribute act or something - when I heard them sing I thought: 'They sound just like the real thing!'
Is it them? They look younger than three years ago!

The members of Libera are always changing, just like any other choir. It's a shame when the really good soloists leave, but I guess they always replace them with another exceptional soloist.
It was definitely them, and they didn't win the last round.

I'm surprised at that! I haven't been watching the show lately but I expected them to go on and win it. The other acts must have improved substantially.

Okay for a start, I watched Libera on When Will I Be Famous and I thought they were by far the best acts on the night. The other acts were gimmicky, going for shocks etc... Libera were just pure class. Their rendition of Sanctus was amazing. Go to YouTube and have a look - but remember it's a flash player, so quality is a bit poor.
Libera are not nearly as famous in their country of origin, as what they are overseas, especially in the Far East. Justification in my reasonsing for appearing on the show. There were people who were probably going 'Libera' who are they? Well, hopefully they were left in no doubt, as to exactly what Libera are, and their field of excellence after their great performances over the two weeks.
Can't wait for that Leiden DVD!

Hello Derek ! A warm welcome to you sir! I hope that you visit the forum often. It's true that Libera are quite famous in the Far East and even here in America. I don't they have been featured much on the Songs of Praise programme lately. Libera seem to have lost their uniqueness. Libera and Hayley Westena will be performing together in Grassington in N. Yorkshire at the Festival of Arts & Music on 29th June. www.grassington-festival.org.uk/events.cfm#hayleywestenraCheers, Joe

Hi All, A regional UK paper posted an article about Libera. They say the group has already performed with Hayley...is that true? I didn't know they had and I wonder where it was. Best wishes, Stephany - and were recently Aled's special guests at a concert. Tickets for the June 30 concert cost £15 and are available from Pomp & Circumstance, Commercial Street, Harrogate (01423 504035) or may be reserved at reservations@libera.org.uk
Hello Stephany! Libera had a guest spot in Hayley's concert at the London Palladium on 29th March 2004, part of her first Pure Tour. I believe they also joined her in another concert on the same tour, possibly at Eastbourne. Best Wishes, Richard

So does anyone have any feedback on how Libera were at Grassington? All I know is that they performed quite a few of their songs. P.S. You wouldn't believe how hard it was to find this thread, after I logged in. It didn't even come up in the search results. Any chance of Libera having their own section?

Hi Derek,
Libera had there own sub-board on this forum for about two years. Unfortunately, we found the level of interest in them to be extremely limited and so the decision was taken to close it. If posts are made regularly to this thread, it will keep it near the top of the general section of the board. Should there be significant interest from a reasonable proportion of our members, we would of course consider creating a new sub-board but, from past experience, that seems unlikely.
