Hello Jeff and Grant! If I could find out who's buying all their albums I'd ask them to stop. Perhaps all will be revealed on eBay in the next few weeks! The good news is Mike Oldfield's 'Music of the Spheres' is at No.10 in this week's Classic FM Chart, but it has slipped a couple of places. www.classicfm.co.uk/Article.asp?id=251563Richard

A monastery is a big place. Plenty of room to store loads of CDs in the basement ! Far more room than Welsh male voice choirs have in their garages !

Hello folks! Mike Oldfield's 'Music of the Spheres' has dropped seven places to No.17 in this week's Classic FM Chart. The Cistercian Monks are still at No.1 for the thirteenth week. It may not be unlucky for them, but it's certainly unlucky for everybody else. At least they've stopped the Monks of Santa Domingo de Silo taking over at the top. www.classicfm.co.uk/Article.asp?id=251563Richard

Mike Oldfield's 'Music of the Spheres' has gone up two places to No.15 in this week's Classic FM Chart. The Cistercian Monks are still chanting away at No.1 for the fourteenth week! www.classicfm.co.uk/Article.asp?id=251563Richard :zz

Hi Richard, I notice that Cistercian Monks are down to no. 100 in the main album chart this week but there are no other qualifying classical albums in the top 200. I think they are likely to hang in the top 200 for a few more weeks so our best hopes for dislodging them in the classical charts are: Alison Balsom – Haydn/Hummel Trumpet Concertos [1st Sep release] Bryn Terfel – First Love: Songs From The British Isles [15th Sep release]I don't think Alison Balsom can do it (but I hope she will) however, Bryn will certainly overtake them. Unfortunately, it will be four weeks before Bryn hits the charts so unless a big compilation is about to be released, it's three more weeks with the Monks at no. 1 Cheers, Dave PS: If anyone is wondering, I estimate that Cistercian Monks have sold about 116,000 copies to date in the UK, "over the counter". Therefore it would qualify as a Gold Disc but the record company don't seem to have bothered to get one. So these are good sales (Hayley would be pleased with those sales) but it's only been at the top for so long (14 weeks) due to lack of classical charts competition, in the summer months. Even if Hayley were to sell that number in total, with her forthcoming November release (which is very unlkely) she would probably never get above no. 3 in the classical charts because Katherine Jenkins and Fron Male Voice Choir will release in the preceding two weeks.

She's a good chance, Dave. Alison will be featured in the October edition of Classic FM Magazine. And speaking of featured, Bryn Terfel is on the front cover...looks like the Monks will require a new habit! Joe

Mike Oldfield's 'Music of the Spheres' is a non-mover at No.15 in this week's Classic FM Chart. The Cistercian Monks have finally been pushed off the No.1 spot by the combined efforts of Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and José Carreras. www.classicfm.co.uk/Article.asp?id=251563Richard

Thanks for the good news Richard! ... it will be four weeks before Bryn hits the charts so unless a big compilation is about to be released... ...The Cistercian Monks have finally been pushed off the No.1 spot by the combined efforts of Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and José Carreras. Three Cheers for The Three Tenors! I noticed this very nice and inexpensive looking "Various Artists" boxed set "The Best of the Three Tenors" yesterday while shopping in ASDA and I very nearly bought it. Thank goodness many other shoppers were bolder than I was. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI cannot find this box set anywhere except ASDA www.asda-entertainment.co.uk/asda/9954379.product I think (£5- odd!) so I'm guessing that it's an ASDA exclusive, has anyone seen it anywhere else? Cheers, Dave

Hi Richard That's excellent news indeed! The Cistercian Monks have finally been pushed off the No.1 spot by the combined efforts of Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and José Carreras. Though I thought it might have warranted more than three smiley faces! Best wishes Grant

Hi Richard and everyone, Here is the Classical Artist Chart from Music Week (no various artists compilations included, like the pop album chart): Classical Artist Chart - Sunday 7th September 2008 This Week (Last Week) Artist -Title (Weeks in Chart) 01 (02) Monks Of Santo Domingo De Silo - Sacred Chants (16 weeks) 02 (01) Cistercian Monks - Chant - Music For Paradise (16 weeks) 03 (04) Russell Watson - The Voice - The Ultimate Collection (Special) (15 weeks) 04 (03) Katherine Jenkins - Serenade (96 weeks) 05 (06) Russell Watson - The Voice - The Ultimate Collection (119 weeks) 06 (05) Katherine Jenkins - Living A Dream (148 weeks) 07 (07) Blake - Blake (34 weeks) 08 (09) Asmif/ Marriner - Classic Fm - Vaughan Williams/The Lark (14 weeks) 09 (08) Mike Oldfield - Music Of The Spheres (25 weeks) 10 (13) Lang Lang - Hess/Concerto For Piano & Orchestra (5 weeks) So in this chart, finally after 15 weeks, the Monks are knocked off the top! By more Monks!!! Who is buying this stuff? There's not a grain of truth in the accusation that I bought up all the albums of Monks Of Santo Domingo De Silo to knock the Cistercians off the top. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifCheers, Dave

Hello again Richard and everyone! It looks like the various Monks' days at the top (in all the charts!) are numbered... Bryn Terfel (Songs of the British Isles) is predicted based on Monday's sales to enter the UK pop album chart inside the top 20 next Sunday (after the next Classic FM Chart comes out). So assuming that it counts as classical as I think it will, he will send the Monks and everyone else spinning (next week). Finally! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifCheers., Dave
