Reported shop sales for the week (well 5 days in fact) were 15,890 which is almost what Hayley can expect to sell for a new album in the UK (19,000 for Treasure in week 1 with a day more of sales). And look who's below her in the chart (Usher and Madonna to name but two!). Unfortunately, Hayley is excluded the International Album Chart (Western Music) - perhaps because of the Japanese songs on the album. If she had qualified, Hayley would have been no. 2 to Weezer - Pure only reached no. 11! Phenomenenal result though so it's... Cheers, Dave I can go get some sleep now!

Hi Dave and everyone, That is wonderful news and another special achievement for Hayley. Interesting to see the Oricon chart use "Hayley" (no surname). Not the case for some singer further down the chart called Mariah Carey Joe

Hi Dave and thank you for that sensational news! Hopefully the album will climb further - any predictions Dave? Best wishes Grant Hi Grant, Well Hayley did have a few days at no. 7 or 8 in the chart but all this week's new releases are out today and half a dozen of them seem likely to be ahead of Hayley's album. It's early days but if I had to guess, I'd say the album will still be in the top 20 next week, with a slight fall and a top 10 position being unlikely but not impossible. Incidentally, the sales I mentioned are for the "Deluxe edition" so there may be a few more to add when I find out where (if anywhere) the standard edition is placed, in case they were not combined. It's somewhere below no. 50 (if anywhere) so I'll have to wait a while to find out. Cheers, Dave

Well done Hayley. There must be some pretty good albums above Hayley if they are better than hers! Perhaps I should buy a few more records from CDJapan!!!

Update: Hayley slipped to no. 14 in yesterday''s daily Oricon chart... but today, she's back up to no. 12 again! With 5 of this week's new releases ahead of her, that's pretty good going (and quite unusual if Hayley can hold that position for the week). The old Amazing Grace (Best of Hayley Westenra) album has re-entered the main album chart at no. 275 - total sales to date (counted only when it's in the top 300 - 13 weeks so far) are 16,084 so the new album's beaten that in 5 days! The Amazing Grace duet single is back up to no 1 in the International singles chart after slipping to no. 2 last week (it's no. 100 overall). Dave

Thanks Umbopo, good to see Hayley's still hanging in there! She's not been in any of the UK charts as a solo for several weeks now - although she does participate in one or two other albums still in the classical charts. In Japan, Hayley has gone up again today in the Oricon daily chart - to no. 11. The only "foreigners" above her are coldplay with their new album and they are no. 7 but it fell today, so it's not impossible that Hayley could catch them up. The only foreigner ahead of Hayley last week (Weezer) have crashed down the chart from no. 9 in the weekly to no. 25 in the daily chart - Hayley really is doing superbly well not to have gone the same way! Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave,
One thing which surprises me here is that given the population of Japan I would have guessed that more sales would be involved - not that this really mitigates the fact that all of this is good news indeed!
