In an Andrea Bocelli thread, Allen mentioned the other day that Hayley's duet of 'Vivo Per Lei' was a unique English language version and indeed, it is the only such version that I can find mentioned anywhere on the internet. There seem to be five existing versions of Vivo Per Lei, *one* version in each of five different languages i.e.:
French with Helene Segara
German with Judy Weiss
Italian with Giorgia
Portuguese with Sandy Leah Lima
Spanish with Marta Sánchez
Fifty second samples of all five recorded versions are on this web page here (Andrea Bocelli Lyrics archive) so you can compare them with Hayley's "live" performance in my personal webspace Vivo Per Lei Video (528 kbps, 20 MB) and Audio only (128 kbps, 5 MB)
All have been album tracks on the local release of "Romanza" and/or on an album by Andrea's duet partner (e.g. Marta Sanchez). The single releases have been no. 1 in the pop singles charts of several of those Countries (but I've not yet been able to check them all). I think it's about time we had an English language release of "Vivo Per Lei" and who better than to partner Andrea in it than Hayley? Because of the lack of an English version, I think this song is relatively unknown and grossly underrated in the English speaking World - and it could do nearly as well as Time To Say Goodbye (Con Te Partiro). I've noticed several people across the Internet mention that they prefer it to Con Te Partiro.
With that Gotta Skate video, I think Hayley could sell the idea to any record executive - and it would probably have to be on Hayley's next album as, for Andrea, it's an old song from eight years ago. The only execs that matter are of course Bocelli's (Sugar from italy) but Hayley has worked with Andrea several times now, so they may be willing to agree to it.
I REALLY want this. What do other people think? Shall we start a campaign?
