Sony BMG in Australia have recently released the following album and I am pretty sure it will be in NZ shortly and I think there will be a DVD as well.
Featured on 'Bravo!' are divine tracks from the likes of Il Divo, Anthony Callea, Amici Forever, Luciano Pavarotti, Hayley Westenra, Sarah Brightman and many more.
Here's the full track listing:
1. Amici forever - Senza Catene 2. Anthony Callea - The Prayer 3. Il Divo - My Way (A Mi Manera) 4. Mario Frangoulis - Hijo De La Luna 5. Opera Babes - Lakme H20 6. Peter Brocklehurst - Nessun Dorma 7. Russell Watson - La Fiamma Sacra (Sacred Flame) 8. The Ten Tenors - Por Una Cabeza 9. Hayley Westenra - Across The Universe of Time 10. Licitra Salvatore - Torna A Surriento 11. Sarah Brightman - Figlio Perduto 12. Yulia - Bailero 13. Katie & Maggie Noonan - Summertime 14. Charlotte Church - Pie Jesu 15. Renee Flemming - O Mio Babbino Caro 16. Summer - Aranjuez Ma Pensee 17. David Hobson - La Boheme: Che Gelida Manina 18. Luciano Pavorotti - Funiculi, Funicala

Hi Ross,
Thanks for the information; it looks like a fine collection especially if it is available on DVD.
Dave or anyone - At the risk of making a fool of myself (no change there, then!), how is it that Sony BMG are able to release a compilation of artists, many of whom are contracted to other record labels?
Roger

Roger Hi Roger and Raymond, Sony/BMG will just obtain a licence for the tracks they are interested in, from Decca/Universal in Hayley's case. This is quite a common practice these days on compilations and I assume that Universal will get paid something for it (although as Sony will bear the costs, it may not be much) - as will Hayley. Most of the tracks look like Sony/BMG artists and that's because they don't have to pay out anything to other record Companies for the privilege of including them = more profit. When Universal or EMI release similar types of compilations, you usually find that most tracks are of their own artists - but they usually include a few from others record companies to widen the appeal. In the case of "Bravo", Hayley is honoured by having been one such artist chosen. A quick check of my "No 1 Opera Album 2004" reveals that all but one of the 19 tracks are by Universal artists but Charlotte Church is in there (Sony) and a couple of duet collaborations involving other record companies. I wonder where, on the DVD version, Hayley's "Across The Universe of Time" comes from? I can't recall any promo videos of this, only the James Last "live" performance on German TV. Oh yes, Live from New Zealand - with Sophie (gotta play it now!!!) i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifCheers, Dave

Sadly, tenor Salvatore Licitra (on this CD's track 10, immediately following Hayley) died yesterday from an accident in Sicily.
