Hello again folks! Yesterday I found an interesting 39-track double CD compilation on a listening post in HMV at Harrow. It's called "Over The Rainbow - The Songbird Collection", on the UCJ label (Universal Classics and Jazz). The opening title track is sung by Eva Cassidy, but track 12 on disc one is Hayley singing "Mary Did You Know?". Disc one also features Katie Melua, Diana Krall, Shania Twain, Joan Armatrading, Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez and Carly Simon, amongst others. I had a quick skip through it, and I was struck by the way Hayley's voice stands out compared with the others. The comparison also confirms that Hayley's voice sounds radiantly youthful, in addition to all its other remarkable qualities! Disc two features other well-known songstresses including Suzanne Vega, Alison Moyet, Dusty Springfield, Alison Krauss, Mary Black and Moya Brennan (Enya's sister), but it wasn't on the listening post. As you can tell from the list of artists, the collection features many different musical styles, but no classical. At £15.99 I won't actually be buying it, but I can recommend the collection to anyone who likes female singers, especially those poor under-privileged people who haven't heard Hayley yet! Now I'm really looking forward to seeing Hayley at Olympia on 20th March! Bye for now, Richard

This is the collection that first introduced me to Hayley in November 2005, as you said Richard, Hayley stood head and shoulders above the others, The insert in it caused me to use the internet for the very first time, I had been blissfully ignoring the internet up to that time : The first text I ever entered in the search bar was : www.hayleywestenra.comI actually stopped working and went to HMV to get more, The rest is history. I am now a blithering, shaking, Hayley addict with no known cure..but more
