Hi Paul, I've thought a few times of starting a thread about the Moody Blues but never got round to it. Their music is certainly there out on the edge of Classical Crossover, along with ELO, Pink Floyd and others from the Prog Rock era. Oddly enough, I saw their double CD compilation set "The Collection" on sale for £5 in ASDA last week and I bought it - even though I have nearly all of their original studio albums on vinyl! I'm not sure if i will get their latest sessions release or not, I don't usually do that, not for anyone. I've never been into collecting stuff for the sake of completing a collection, the music is usually inferior to the artists already released mainstream material (technically and sometimes artistically too) and I rarely have time to play even the mainstream albums, so many do I possess! Incidentally (and off topic) you are the only person I've ever seen mention Gigliola Cinquetti as one of your favourites - she's one of mine too! Thanks for the information! Cheers, Dave

Cheers, Dave Ha I'll get the hang of this quote thing yet, DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED By The Moody Blues Was it the first Classical crossover Album ? 1967 A deliberately classical sounding album to demonstrate DERAM's new stereophonic hi fidelity "Deramic Sound System" also laminated with clarifoil (The LP that is). Most people of a certain age can remember the first time they heard Nights in White Satin. and off topic Gigliola recorded an album of songs in English around the time of her chart hit Go (Before you break my heart) on the CBS label around 1974 . I have never been able to locate the same group of songs on CD , But I still have the LP in good condition. I still play a cassette of it regularly, she sounds so good on it with that hint of exotic in her accent . Just Gorgeous.............

Most people of a certain age can remember the first time they heard Nights in White Satin. For anyone unfamiliar with this track here it is played live at The 1970 Isle of Wight music festival. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9l59IPomH7Q The Moog Synthesiser makes it very atmospheric. Tony
