Hi all,
Lately, I have really been getting into Fleetwood Mac. I knew who they were to start with (bearing in mind they were aronund two decades before I was even born) and my Mother used to play them often when I was younger, but I never took much notice.
On Last.FM I played one of my personal radio stations (these stations play you music it thinks you will like according to what you listen to). A song called 'Bleed To Love Her' came on by Fleetwood Mac, and I loved it. Knowing my Mum had their boxset, I went to her for the song, but she said she had never heard of it (YOU CALL YOURSELF A FLEETWOOD MAC FAN!?) Turns out they wrote it for their 30th Anniversary concert, so I went out and bought 'Rumours' and 'The Dance'.
I was only little when these tracks were first played to me, but I didn't know which song was sung by which artist in those days, so it was a pleasent surprise to play all these songs I knew very well from childhood, but didn't know it was them that did them.
I particularly love 'Don't Stop' (and I keep annoying my best friend with constant short bursts of rendition), 'Second Hand News', 'The Chain', 'Go Your Own Way', 'Songbird', 'Dreams' and 'Bleed to Love Her'. It's funny. I thought 'Songbird' was originally done by Eva Cassidy, and thought 'Dreams' was something the Corrs wrote. It's so funny what you find out later in life!
So, with apologies to drawing attention to it, a lot of you are a lot older than me, so I trust you remember them! Did you listen to them back in the day? Do you still listen to them? What do you think of them? (especially when you can hardly pin point who Fleetwood Mac are since they constantly changed members).
'Rumours' is also considered a classic masterpiece. Do you agree with this? Do you think it's over rated?
Thoughts.
EDIT: I just found that someone else made a thread about Rumours a little while ago. I still hope that this thread can stand on it's own, because that thread didn't really talk about Fleetwood Mac as a whole, or mention them much at all (everyone went off on to 'Puppet on a String'... My Mum used to play that song all the time when I was young too...)
