Great report Peter, I just wish there was more to come!! So who else is intending to make the trip to Christchurch apart from you and I? Hope we get concert details in time to make arrangements. Grant There is more! But unintentionally so. It was a 'passing' response to mariannek about wine and ended up being the ' Pass the port' or ' cheese and biscuits' course! Peter S.

Thank you Peter for the long and detailed reviews! It is always a pleasure to read them. When I'm back from NZ in mid-March I can write you about the tour, about the must-see-places and also about the costs. I won't have the possibility to see Hayley in NZ but that will make your trip even more worth-while. Thomas

Delighted to hear from you, Thomas. I look forward very much to hearing (and seeing!) your views. About the same time I should be hearing from friends who are touring mid-Feb to mid-March, the initial purpose to attend a wedding but obviously you don't make that journey just for a wedding! Any more than you make it for a concert performance. It is just that I want to visit NZ: partly as a friend waxed so lyrically about his year`there when in his twenties and of course for the connection now with Hayley. If you can (if I can!) match the dates to include a Hayley performance, then of course one tries to pull that togther.
All the best and safe journey during and on your return!
Peter S.

Hi everyone! I debated whether I should post this under this heading, 'Photography', or under the summer June heading but chose this as the most obvious thread although the main purpose of several of these photos is in preparation for the summer event to give people an idea of Grassington. I will cross reference to these photos between the threads. First, a photo of the Harrogate foyer circular staircase/ramp Then, some pictures showing the Christmas festivities in Grassington village. These show how small the village is and gives you an idea of what it might well be like in June. BUT, I was unable to find anyone who knew about the June event. They are two totally different festivals and obviously run by a different set of people. I am given to understand that the marquee is in a field and for the music event they use the ordinary car park which I imagine could get overfull. They did not allow any road parking at all and for Christmas they provided parking at a quarry for £5 down the road about four miles away and provided a free bus service back and forth every ten minutes. Two shots of stilt walkers. Young children visiting a shop. The entire centre of the village is essentially an unspoilt 17th century village. Peter S.

Now more of the village itself and something of the countryside, the views on which the village look out over. A lane leading into the village. Another lane leading into the village. From the village centre, just below the square, the road looking both out of the centre of the village and also towards the car and coach park, far distance right. Peter S.

Looking towards the village from the major road a mile and a half away. Probably on a field like this, near the car park, is where they pitch the concert marquee. That concludes 'Christmas Presence', Harrogate 2006. I'll posgt more about Grassington on the June thread. Peter S.

Hello Peter! Thanks for posting the excellent photographs of Grassington, all part of your Christmas Presence in Harrogate experience, and therefore perfectly on topic in my book! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifGrassington does look rather bleak in December, so I'm looking forward to seeing your photographs in June, for comparison. Of course, Hayley's presence will make a big difference! Best Wishes, Richard
