Hi Richard.
You presented such a complete and detailed report so concisely I really don' think that there is anything to add, except the usual appreciative thanks to Hayley who is always so much fun and makes sure, if at all possible, she gives us so much consideration with her time we really feel a part of her.
Bless you Hayley and 'thank you'.

Hi Roger and everyone.
I was holding this comment back for when I had originally intended to introduce it following an input from me still to be written--time is moving too fast for me at the moment, or perhaps more truly, it is partly that and partly other diversions have claimed a higher priority than I would like them to, some irritant called 'work' or 'mundane realities of life'!
However, very simply, and i will elaborate on this later--although i suspect many will want to jump in quickly in response to this directly--there would be absolutely no problem at all if she abandoned the microphone in the first place.
I did wonder, if, being told of the problem in the interval as I a sure she must have been, the soonest time she could have been told of the problem, she might have boldly said to the technicians, okay folks, you think you've fixed it, BUT, note your slider positions, cut all amplification and I'll do the first song of the of part 2 without mike and then ask the audience for their response. it is a very large cathedral and i was only twenty rows, if that, back but...
The key, which i think we are all looking forward to, is when she feels it is right for her to make that stand.
I will develop this thought under another thread, for reasons that will become apparent in due course.

Richard. Thanks for the review, excellently put and greatly enjoyed but a couple of salient points (for me anyway!) missed out. - The story about the letter Hayley received about the proununciation of "Islay" - should it be 'Is-lay' or eye-lay'? Maybe we should start a thread about this (or not!)
- Second, the fact that Hayley "blew up" a radio mike when she came back for an encore
Just a thought Grant Is that what happened Grant? I wasn't aware of that. I thought it was yet another example of sound technician ineptitude. She tried two mikes before another radio mike was brought to her. She surely can't have blown both?!!! Peter S.

Nice one Graemek!! The way you spell it makes it sound like "Hayley" - that works for me!! We'll have to wait and see what happens. Grant Hi Grant : This just arrived from Belinda on the Isle of Islay: The best way to pronounce Islay would be eye - la, in the Gaelic the y is absent. Kind regards Belinda -----Original Message----- From: graeme Sent: 29 October 2006 00:55 To: In her own time she'll probably read the post! It is the pronounciation of which I have been most familiar but ending with 'ay' rather than 'a', but that 'a' does ring a long distant bell! Peter S.

These are superb Steve. I have saved all of them. Each is a unique expression we don't often see except in fleeting moments. Well done for capturing them so well and so faithfully.

Any contact with Hayley would put me in orbit, be it a special gorgeous smile or a right fourpenny one!
I think her fist is clenched in an 'excited' or enthusiastic manner of 'whoopee', not 'whop'im'!

Hi folks, Thought I would keep this thread going a little longer, here are a few more of Hayley after the concert Steve H Hi Steve. Don't know whether Hayley would agree, but I JUST LOVE her expression in this one. I also agree with Peter - you have caught some fabulous expressions. Hayley was clearly loving every minute of it!! Hey everyone! I've just been looking at these latest photos of Hayley at Canterbury, and also remembering those that have already been posted. I know we had a fantastic time with Hayley but - is it just me - 'cos it seems to me that Hayley was also having a fantastic time!! What a great girl!! Grant Yes, I think she was and that enhanced everything for us, I am sure, even if we weren't aware of the reason why. Here I go again, jumping in with all six feet flailing. Could her obvious happiness and sense of fun (more than her stock version!!! of 'standard' Hayley) have anything to do with the cancelled German tour--she had been forced to pace her events and rest properly, taking some time out for herself? It could of course be: - She loves old churches as NZ ones are rarely more than 2 centuries old and not such great institutions redolent with internationally renowned history, especially Canterbury and the Abbey
- New experience of being on the judging panel
- Sheer delight at the amazing talent of the two winning choristers
- Its only three years since she was technically a schoolgirl. Suddenly, she's in a 'teaching' posiiton! Perhaps something suddenly 'hit home' in her own eyes, she really is 'all grown up'!

Hello Peter! I doubt if the winning young choristers at Westminster Abbey had anything to do with Hayley's happiness at Canterbury Cathedral, unless she is psychic in addition to all her other talents! Best Wishes, Richard

Hi Grant, If you were thinking the same as Richard before he said it, perhaps that makes you a psychic too. You're not related to Hayley, are you? Roger
