On Friday night at about 20:15 I thought about Chris Rea and "The Road To Hell", having wasted 90 minutes "parked" on the M25 attempting to cross the mighty River Thames to join the A2 towards Canterbury in the wake of the pilgrims. This one was not making much progress.
Never before have I heard of the Dartford Tunnel being closed periodically due to a build up of toxic gases. This must be Corfu syndrome.
Perhaps I should have been cautious when one of my tickets was EE13 (although Richard never seems to suffer with this number).
Gini and I arrived at the Cathedral precints to hear the sounds of Hayley with a male voice in support (Alfie Boe) singing Ave Maria. We waited until they had finished before opening the entrance door to the nave.
We did at least hear "May it Be", "In Trutina", "Hine e Hine" and the encore of "Pokarekare Ana" (which allowed me to release all the stress of the M25 in my inevitable way).
We never had the chance to sit in our seats and never had the chance to see Hayley perform, lurking behind the columns to try and make our way to the front of the nave in between songs, only reaching the front as Hayley left the stage.
We saw her after the performance, surrounded by the usual suspects and it was good to see that Tim was given centre stage at that point. Our apologies to all HWI members if we were not in the best of humour at this time.
Warning to all future concert goers. Follow Richard's example, camp out on the pavement the night before if you want to see Hayley. This is the first time that I have missed any part of Hayley's performance, next time I shall make sure that time is taken off work to arrive early.
For anyone suggesting that we should have used public transport, please refer to my posting for All Angels HMV appearance, when somebody decided to end their life on the railway tracks, thus delaying a perfectly timed journey.
Drive carefully.
I shall be leaving shortly to make my way up the M1 to Sheffield for the Christmas Presence Concert! (On second thoughts it is Twickenham next Sunday and we can expect a crowd of 75,000 rather than just 2,000. Better leave now. No need to worry about the rose for the next performance, it is already embroidered on the shirt and the coat!)

Hi Elisabeth,I take it you're the Elisabeth whose pic has just appeared in this thread with Hayley & your friends. Here're your instructions (forgive me if I tell you something you already know): 1. Make yourself an account with one of the (free) website hosts. See here: s71.photobucket.com/albums/i145/graemar/as an example. (that's mine but it doesn't have to be 'public') 2. Follow the instructions to upload starting at browse. It takes a few seconds usually but shows the usual green time bar. 3.Here's an example from my host: You can practice with this. I merely copied the bottom address box under the image. Right click on the picture & go to properties & you'll see the url thus: i71.photobucket.com/albums/i145/graemar/greendress.jpg4. to display a picture after you've started a 'reply' select that URL & then press the image button.....press preview & you'll see the image display. 5. press 'post reply' & everything will be revealed. All the best ......Graemek

Nice one Graemek!! The way you spell it makes it sound like "Hayley" - that works for me!! We'll have to wait and see what happens. Grant Hi Grant : This just arrived from Belinda on the Isle of Islay: The best way to pronounce Islay would be eye - la, in the Gaelic the y is absent. Kind regards Belinda -----Original Message----- From: graeme Sent: 29 October 2006 00:55 To:

Hello Basile and welcome to the forum. I remember seeing you in Canterbury. Had I known you might join us, I would have said hello properly. I trust we will have the opportunity to meet you at a future event.
Best wishes, Roger

Hi Marianne, I'm glad you like reading our reports and looking at the photos! Hayley's dress was black and extended to a fraction below the knee. The bright waistband and connected shoulder bands that you can see in the photographs were bright and glittery like diamonds (I wonder if they were real diamonds! ), it was a lovely dress of the kind that photographs can never fully do justice to. Hayley wore black (I think) stiletto-like heels on stage but the heels were not particularly high or pointed and with no platform soles. 3 or 4 inch heels is my guess. Alfie Boe is not much taller than Hayley and she wouldn't have wanted want to tower over him in the duet, or at the end! That's the best I can do! Cheers, Dave Hi Dave (& Stuart whose foto Graeme made a lightened copy of for the purpose of this dress post....hope you're OK with that Stuart) My turn now (Marianne)......thank you for the detailed description of Hayley's dress!!!! I can now visualise it as made up of a bodice and skirt ??!! I love the gathered short sleeves they so suit her slender arms.( my opinion, anyhow!) Is Hayley commenting on her beautiful dress to the audience in this shot ? love Marianne & Graeme

Hi everyone,
Many thanks to all of you for sharing your photos and memories from Canterbury Cathedral with us. I do enjoy seeing so many beautiful pics of Hayley. So wonderful that many members here had the chance to meet Hayley.
I was probably under the watchful eye of the photo police last year at Easton, PA, when my camera flash went off by accident!
Regards, Joe

Congratulations and thanks, Steve and Stuart! Your excellent photographs are all the more remarkable considering the difficult circumstances. Well done! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifElizabeth, just to clarify Graeme's explanation, to display an image your typed out message should look like this:- Don't worry about the clever trick I used to de-activate the tags there! Best Wishes, Richard

Well done for outwitting the camera police and thank you for those stunning photographs. I can't believe the first pictures which you posted up were taken from the 16th row and as for these latest portrait photographs... you can't get much better than that! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifA HUGE thanks to you both for your dedication and excellent results! -----Original Message----- From: graeme Sent: 29 October 2006 00:55 To: That's interesting - and unexpected!! But at least "eye-la" is better than "Iss-lay" - I'm sure Hayley will easily find a way around that. Grant
