Hello Mark
I'm glad you got something picturewise even, as Richard says, they are only thumbnails.
Maybe Dave or another one of our technical geniuses may have some clues as to whether or not they can be enlarged.
Look forward to seeing the rest.
Merry Christmas Grant

Hi everyone Nothing could ever take away the memories I have (and I'm sure Grant too) of the Telford performance and greeting & meeting Hayley. Some of you with good memories though may recall that I was very upset that the photo's I had taken were corrupted due to camera problems. Well, there is good news as well as bad !! The good news is that I sent the disk off to someone who was able to recover some of the data, including the pics of Hayley & myself & Hayley, Grant & Myself. The bad news however, is that I only have thumbnails ! They are quite small but you can see them - just about. I do have a few others, apart from being small, the quality is not great but I will post them if you would like. As these thumbnails are jus a few pixels, I dont think it is possible to enlarge them, unless anyone knows otherwise or has any suggestions ! Very best wishes Mark. Hi Mark, Well as Richard implies, there isn't any way to put back detail that isn't already in the thumbnails you posted. All you can do is to resize them and possibly play about with the brightness, contrast and colour settings and of course resize them to make what details ARE there easier to see. Anyway I've tried resizing them to 3 times magnification using a) the forum software and b) my PC software Paint Shop Pro (where I also increased the brightness/contrast a bit). Both versions are below and as you can see there is only so much that can be done. Some people will find the enlargement too great, I just chose it as compromise in the circumstances. There are a few other improvements that could be made, for example by selectively softening Hayley's neck/chest area, the chequerboard effect can be reduced as shown in the bottom photo. It all depends on having the right software and enough time to do it all. Anyway, here they are: Cheers, Dave

Hi Mark! It's great to see that you were able to recover some of the lost pictures. Even if they are thumbnails, please post them. Thank you, Dave for the resize. Thomas

Hi everyone
Thanks very much Dave for trying to enlarge the images, I did try myself but your imaging software makes a better job. I will look through the others I have Thomas and will post a few more - get your magnifying glasses out !!
Merry Christmas to you all Mark.

Hi Mark, My sympathies re your pic losses. The whole game became clear to me once I started to read up on digital pics having had a Canon T70 for years. The 2nd law of Thermodynamics more or less says: (crudely put) You lose something in every process which is impossible to regain. ie. If you start with a 5Mb file & you convert it to a 50kb file you can never re-enlarge it back to that nice 5mb one again. Whereas the limiting factor with 35mm pics is the grain size, the limiting factor in dig. pics is the real size of a pixel. So as you get nearer & nearer to that pixel size the grainier looking does that (in your case) thumbnail become. This was not intended to cheer you up Mark but more to warn others to make sure they understand as much as possible about dig. pics. Another easy trap too of course is underestimating the battery usage & pressing the button for the best pic ever only to see the lights fade out.....been there...done that. Graemek

Hi Graeme Your comments are noted and no they didnt cheer me up !! haha. I still know very little about digital photography but am learning fast and we are getting a new camera for Christmas. I'm not sure if thats a good or bad thing . All I can say is I will be much more careful to check all is right with the camera when attending a Hayley concert next year !! Best regards Mark

I still have some more pictures to post from Telford and I would be delighted to have them posted as a gallery on the main site. Someone will have to tell me how to do that though!! Hello Grant! That would be a job for our new webmaster. Are you reading this Dave? Best Wishes, Richard Hi Dave I guess you never picked up on Richard's comment about advising me how to create galleries. It would be great to see my Telford pictures as a gallery on the main site and any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Best wishes Grant

Hi Grant, As HWI Webmaster, Dave is the only person who has access to the main site for updating purposes. Anything for possible inclusion must be submitted to him. Roger

Roger Thanks Roger - I presume that means I have to get the pictures to Dave. Is there an easy way to do that? They are all currently stored in Photobucket. Grant

Hi Grant, Sorry I missed your original message last month! I think the best thing to do is send me a private message with a list of photobucket links to the photos you'd like to appear on the website, say upto a dozen of them (if you have that many) then when I next do a galleries update, they will be there, ready. I'm not currently updating galleries as we have to prepare for the Treasure release, complete Hayley's rather large discography and make some important technical changes that are bound to cause some head scratching. You'd be surprised how much there is to find out and do when you first start webmastering a large site designed by someone else. But we'll get there, so please send me the links! Cheers, Dave

Hello everyone!
Dave has just advised me that my pictures from this concert have now been included as a gallery on the main site. So now you can view them as a whole rather than spread over a number of threads.
Hope you enjoy them.
Best wishes
Grant

Hi All, I'm not sure where I should put this lovely pic... [EDIT As the Southwell Minster concert was a full year before Telford, I have moved this post to a new thread HERE. - Roger]
