Who presented Hayley with the Pink Pussycat? She didn't have that at Blickling on Saturday.

Hello everyone! I've had an email from that nice Il Divo "Diva" Vanessa H, enclosing four very nice photos she took for us to post in the forum, at the Kedleston Hall concert on Sunday. She made a few comments about the problems we all had in this tour taking photos, which puts it nicely in context I think and I'm sure she won't mind if I quote her: Thanks for persevering Vanessa, I hope your photos of the boys were as good as the ones of Hayley... and we are all most grateful! Cheers, Dave

Roger,
see that pink creature on the stool. Don't say that I didn't warn you!

Here's another comment from Il Divo's forum. Laura Elena wrote:- Richard Hi Richard. Thank you for your continuing useful and interesting snippets from diverse sources. Pity she didn't define her criteria. She still liked Hayley and that's great but if we are going to be of any value to Hayley, as I think lies behind HWI members support of Hayley, when we criticise we define what it is we are criticisng and why. Otherwise, so what? I call to mind, as a most recent example, the criticism I made at Regent's Park that Fiona seemed under miked, the piano was over miked and/or was less sensitively played but Hayley was fine. I also observed that where I was, the speakers (while they should cover the whole auditorium equitably) were clearly tuned to the bulk of the 8,000 people stretching 100 yards back and not the people hanging on the safety barrier. What happened, was it Andrew who reported from Edinburgh that he was allowed in during a sound rehearsal and Hayley was fixated on getting the sound balance right? Why? May be others had told her? Maybe her own ears told her during performance that something wasn't right., although it is extremely difficult to get any sense of what the audience fifty yards away is hearing when you are behind the speakers hearing something totally different. This post also gives me the opportunity to say, that it would appear from other posts, that I have maligned Al Gurr by implication, since my comment at Regent's Park would appear to have been down entirely to the amplification system and not to his being too heavy-handed. All this derives from open debate, which conveys information of value to the artiste because we define the criteria within which our criticism should be read. A thought, Richard, oh, no, its the official site you are registered on, not the Il Divo one, isn't it? However, any chance of passing the principle of my comment to the lady concerned and asking her to define the difference she perceives? We know Hayley across both types (many actually) of auditoria and know there not to be any difference. So, what exactly is she perceiving? Peter

Peter Peter, It was the other Andrew (Drew) who reported from Blickling about the sound check experience. (Although Andrew Fenning might have done the same - after all, he witnessed the whole building of Edinburgh Castle.) I also felt that Al appeared heavy handed both at Warwick and Regent's Park. (Listen to my video clip under Toast.) I spoke to Hayley regarding Warwick but she had already done her sound check at Regent's Park at 10:00 am. Al sounded very much better both at Petworth and Blicking. Unfortunately we were relatively late arrivals at Petworth therefore missed the sound check. I am sure that they will all be perfect at Gawsworth and Cadogan Hall whoever gets to play on the keyboard. At Cadogan Hall, can we expect Ingrid Fuzjko on the piano and David Garrett on the violin. There can't be enough room for two pianists and two violinists in addition to the RPO.

Hi Drew! Thank you for your updated news and corrections to my earlier report. Also, for confirming you too felt Al was more heavy-handed than Ian's more subtle touch and that it wasn't necessarily down to over-amplification in the mixing.
My apologies for getting confused between the two Andrews despite your care to establish a difference between you. Actually, as you yourself say by implication, it wasn't so much that I was confused between the two of you as unable to remember who had posted what.
Interesting news you give..Several dates there to look out for.Regretfully, i can't commit so far ahead as I usually pop over the pond for the Fall and I haven't planned anything out that far ahead yet..
Peter
