I will report when the total increases to 120 countries but that is unlikely to be for some time! We made it at last! Someone from Libya visited HWI today. This is our 120th country! The full list is available here. Roger

Wow, that's a lot more than I ever would've thought, and countries I might not have expected. There are a few that I've never heard of, too. I wonder how they all heard about Hayley? Hmm, could the new visitors from Iraq be soldiers she met in Basra, or would they actually be Iraqi citizens?

That's very good news, Roger.
I believe, Libby, that the visitors from Iraq did so before Hayley's visit to Basra.

Hi Libby, As I don't keep a record of the date on which a "new" country first visits, I cannot confirm when Iraq first appeared. It was definitely this year but, as Joe says, well before Hayley's visit to Basra. From memory, I think it was at least six months ago. Unfortunately, I cannot tell whether the visitors were soldiers or Iraqi citizens. Whatever, the word is definitely spreading! Roger

I've just had a thought! Have they got Wi-Fi on the International Space Station? If somebody visited the forum from there, that would make us inter-galactic! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifIs anybody at NASA reading this? Richard

Hello Roger... I don't know very much about computers and I have a question for you. If someone is on HWI and is not a member but just looking at the site, how do you know where they are from? Thankyou from Annie

Hi Annie, Those stats are nothing to do with this forum, they refer to the main HWI site. At the foot of the front page is the stats counter currently displaying that 1,219,824 people have visited the site since we launched (a little over five years ago). As that account at StatsCounter.com is registered to me, I can log in and see certain details of the last 100 pageloads. It is currently telling me that, of the last 100 pages to be viewed, 47 of them were accessed by people in the UK, 34 from the US, 8 from New Zealand, 8 from Australia, 2 Unknown and 1 from Mexico. I check it two or three times a day, looking for any country to be listed that hasn't appeared before (which is rare now because all the most likely countries have visited). The software recognises the approximate location of visitors by their IP address. Incidentally, you are not alone. I don't know much about computers either! Roger PS. Ah, it's changed. Someone from the Netherlands has just come in a looked at six pages! Good, innit?

Hi Roger & everyone
Thats pretty good going - 120 countries ! Slightly off topic, I would like to say congratulations to Joe for his dedication to Hayley and this forum over the last 5 years. Its always a pleasure to read your posts Joe and to chat on-line with you once each month - all be it briefly. I really do hope that it won't be long now until you meet Hayley in person. Once again, well done.
Best wishes
Mark

Hello all, I think it's really amazing just how many countries HWI represents. Equally amazing is our means to communicate...could anyone imagine this 20 years ago. How fortunate I am to be able to wish someone from Hong Kong, Germany, or Scotland a happy birthday or a hello. Or to send my best wishes to a blessed singer from New Zealand. Thanks for your kind words, Mark. I believe that dreams do come true, and that someday I'll be able to meet many of my friends here. Hi Richard, Part of the standard wake-up for the Space Shuttle and ISS crew is that Mission Control play a song chosen by an astronaut's family. www.usatoday.com/tech/science/space/2006-07-12-shuttle-music_x.htm'Across the Universe of Time' or 'Who Painted the Moon Black' would do nicely! Forgive me for rambling but I haven't posted for a couple of days and I'm bored! I would love to be able to say that HWI had been visited by people from countries starting with every letter of the alphabet but unfortunately, we're not quite there yet. We have never been visited by anyone whose country starts with a "W" so, if anyone is reading this in Western Samoa, please click the following link: Neither have we been visited by anyone whose country begins with an "X" but that may only be because there aren't any! And so that just leaves "Z". And I can now say... Welcome Zambia! The full list of all 121 countries appears here (for anyone who doesn't believe we have been visited by a country starting with "Q"! ) Roger
