Hi Roger Thats really great news No one could say that we are not an international site now ! I am sure that our steadily increasing numbers are partly due to Hayley's recent exposure, particularly in the states, as well as the official site being shall we say, a little messed up Long may it continue Regards Mark.

Of particular interest to me in regard to our international status is the fact that, although the majority of the membership appears to be from the UK, US, Australia, and, of course, New Zealand. Those from other parts of the world have a very good command of the English language, not that such a command is a requirement here--I for one would not criticize one who lacks that command yet wishes to be numbered among us Haleywowed. I mention this because English, now my primary language, was the second language for me to learn and learning it wasn't always easy since there are very few hard and fast rules. And the rules that do exist are constantly being violated (e.g. the splitting of infinitives). Learning the spelling was a nightmare, and of course the spelling of certain words differs in the UK vs. US traditions (favourite vs. favorite, etc.).

I am delighted to announce that the main HWI site has now been visited by people from 115 different countries around the world. The latest addition (within the last 24 hours) is Georgia. I will report when the total increases to 120 countries but that is unlikely to be for some time! The full list of countries may be viewed HERE. Roger

Now that I have seen that update I am tempted to start paddling down the East Coast so that I can log in from Zanzibar to add another country to the list.
Let's keep the HWI flag flying.
With Christmas wishes from Kenya,
Drew.

Off ya go then! [pause]... Has he gone? Okay guys, look, there's no need to tell Drew, but even if he did go to Zanzibar, it wouldn't count because it's part of Tanzania! Roger PS. Hang on a minute, we haven't had Tanzania! Adda boy, Drew; I always knew you'd come in handy one day! Roger

Hehe, can I conclude that my Katherine Jenkins site has overtaken HWI? I have counted 122 countries there .... You can find the full list at the bottom of my home page at KJI - Roger/Dave feel free to check that list and comment on the eligibility of the entries! Gerrit PS at HWI.net there haven't been any countries to add to the list in the first message in this thread

Hi Gerrit,
Congratulations on acquiring two more countries than we have managed at HWI! It is remarkable that we are almost neck and neck... or is it?
You asked for confirmation of eligibility of your countries. Why would they not be eligible? I confirm that your list contains no name which is not recognised as an independant state if that's what you mean.
Thanks for the confirmation that no more countries have visited HWI.net. I would challenge you to a race for the 200 mark but I doubt if either of us will live long enough to see the result!
Roger

hehe Roger, I'll keep track of this thread, and will keep checking HWI.net. It will be interesting to keep track . I do agree with you though that it is not likely there will be many more countries that will enter the list. Just a little anecdote - in the list of countries for KJI, there aren't any countries starting with a "W"or an "X". I don't see where we could dig up an X-country (except for in space), but when I challenged Katherine fans for a country starting with a "W", the response was: "Oh and doesn't Wales count?" . Cheers, and I hope you have a relaxing holiday period and a very happy new year. Gerrit

Haha, tell them that Wales only counts in Principal(ity)! A country starting with "W"? Mmm. There used to be one. Does Western Sahara still exist? Possibly not. All the best to you for the New Year too. Roger

The only legitimate W country I can think of today is Wallis & Futuna Islands ...

Hi Gerrit, Congratulations for adding French Polynesia to your already impressive total. Strangely (perhaps), French Polynesia visits HWI fairly frequently and has done for almost two years. Nevertheless, to have eight more countries than us is probably a fairly comfortable buffer but I haven't given up yet! Roger
