Right... It doesn't sound too tasty, especially when you have to eat it with avocado. (No offense Hayley!)

It tastes similar to Marmite which is a yeast extract (Brewer's yeast residue to be precise). Tehe Martin! That's a good get out - so what does Marmite taste like? I've no idea how to describe it, despite the fact that I've loved it ever since my first trip round the Bass Brewery in Burton-upon-Trent many years ago! All I can say is try it! You'll either love it or hate it! Best wishes Grant

Hi Stephany and everyone, Thanks for finding a very interesting article, Stephany. I knew that Hayley loves to have Japanese dishes, specially when she comes to Japan. But it is also good to know that she eats some of them, somehow willingly, even when she is so stressed and tired. Seems like, she is quite ready to settle down in the "nation of rising sun" someday? i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI noticed that Hayley likes to have some "soy products", that are edamame, of course and also miso soup, for "miso" is made from daizu, or soy beans. Miso soup, in particular is the food which is almost essential to our food diet here in Japan and it is the one that sustains our nutrition balance. But believe me, not many people who live outside Japan like the soup. It is something like Thai curry, or green curry. Some may find the taste good and others may find the taste "too strange" or so, maybe. And it goes well only with some rice dishes, usually. Hearing about Vegemite makes me shudder a little, Hayley. It is one of the few food that "scares" me!

Hi Akito, I'm not surprised that Hayley loves Japanese food. It's very healthy and of course very good. It's probably what I miss more about Japan...Japanese curry and Okonomiyaki. That was very yummy! Stephany

Hi Stephany, Glad to hear that you know the taste of the 'real' curry! Ours is not too hot like the original Indian curry, but it tastes as good or even better, right? Actually, it is very easy to cook and once I made some for friends when I was staying in NZ. But never try to eat them with chopsticks, like my friends did in NZ! Okonomiyaki is also possible to make, I think even in Britain, but requires a bit more effort, possibly. Akito

Hi Stephany, Thanks for the interesting article. I have recently been put on a strict diet myself so I am finding all this very interesting. I'm no expert but does singing itself not require some physical activity? The nutritionist only judged Hayley on one day anyway, everybody is allowed some rest, especially if, like Hayley they have just returned from touring Japan. Dazza its little less then 100 calories to sit down and sing a full song.

Hello Matt! It must burn a lot more calories to sing standing up. Hayley probably doesn't burn as many as other singers and musicians who jig about on stage, but that just isn't her style. Richard

Actually what does vegemite taste like? I never get to try it here in Hong Kong. It's fantastic piling it on hot steamy toast , yet I can barely stand it cold .

This has proved a most interesting thread. Thank you everyone for your contributions, especially Stephany. To have had Hayley's 'opening up' as she did then to have had a professional dietrician comment so favourably upon it is very interesting and reassuring.
It also shows how way out and arguably wrong my diet is!
Snacking is arguably the right thing to do if we take ourselves back to our origins when foraging was our natural way of life.
