Hello Jim, I hope you can attend this event! Blenheim Palace looks like a lovely venue. I just spent a good bit of time reading about it. Oh, also of note, only last Friday 26th February, Mr Morricone was given a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame! www.reuters.com/article/us-music-morricone-star-idUSKCN0W002F

I read somewhere that it is his first Oscar. I was shocked that he hadn't won one before!

I read somewhere that it is his first Oscar. I was shocked that he hadn't won one before! Yeah, me too! I posted this on the official forum, and in the title I put "2016", assuming this was just one of many! I'm very surprised to learn that it's not!

Hello Paige and Libby! Yes, Ennio Morricone has been nominated for an Oscar several times since 1979, but this is the first time he's actually won. He was given an Honorary Award in 2007. You can see all his nominations and awards here: www.imdb.com/name/nm0001553/awardsRichard
