Hi everyone, Thanks to a music streaming service (Tidal) that I am trialling, I have just discovered Nianell! Some may recall that Nianell wrote and first performed "Who Painted The Moon Black?" which Hayley covered 13 years ago ( ) on Pure. I have just listened to her album of (almost) the same name: Who Painted the Moon?" and it really is very good, thoroughly enjoyable. Hayley's cover of "Who Painted The Moon?" is very similar to Nianell's original and it's very good indeed, as is the entire album, very relaxing. I shall in future days be investigating other Nianell albums and will report back if they are good. I cannot find this album available as a CD anywhere but it is downloadable as an mp3 and streamable on various services - in lossless CD quality on a few. The 7 track mp3 version on Amazon is NOT the original album, which has 13 tracks. Oh, it's only taken me 13 years to discover her music and I can hardly believe that it's through a music streaming service, something I swore that I'd never use a few years ago. Oh how times change! Cheers, Dave

I couldn't find a video of just her singing an album version but I found this duet of her and Patrizio Buanne-
I really like it!

Here's her singing it live and solo (official channel), she's got a lovely voice but goes a bit mad in the second half! The album track is very similar to Hayley's rendition. Her other album tracks on that album are really good too.

Cheers, Dave Oh no !....... Maybe it is time for me to decomission the BSR 8 track cartridge player and the wax cylinder recorder. I still have my old Pioneer cassette deck, and my PL 12D turntable! Working but sadly, no longer in use though. Meanwhile, I have been further investigating Nianell! I discovered Broadjam.com, an independent music artists' site streaming a selection of complete tracks from their artists, with lyrics, songwriter notes and other details, and Nianell is one of them! Here is Nianell's page: www.broadjam.com/artists/songs.php?artistID=67575&mediaID=436188For anyone interested, I particularly like the following songs listed: Who Painted The Moon? Finally How Beautiful Love Can Be Life's Gift It's So Absurd** We'll Find A Way **It's So Absurd is a bit extreme to say the least and although it's had the fewest number of views on the list by far, it is well worth a listen while reading the lyrics at the side, and I like it a lot. Her vocalisation from 2m 25s is astonishing in its range and would give Celine Dion a very good run for her money! I also found it to be a very moving song when in the mood to really get into it, don't miss that one! If our Hayley could do some classy singer songwriting like Nianell, I'd be well pleased! Cheers, Dave

Glad you like it (I think!) Richard.
Don't worry fellas, I am happy with my CD quality streaming setup now and I can play all her CDs from that.
A word of caution though, the powerful "It's so absurd" is on her second album "Angel Tongue" which for me, is even better than her first, she does the blues as well, well everything!
For a less frenetic version, here's her live concert version with just her, on piano... and she still hits the high notes.
Cheers, Dave
