Well, it seems perhaps I've been a bit hard on Daniela Mass of Colombia. Last night's performance was actually very lovely. The thought that came to mind while she was performing that she was "channeling" Sarah Brightman, as far as style and song choice. Her voice is not quite on par with Sarah's of course, but her performance was quite lovely. I will say she doesn't always seem exactly effortless in her singing. I actually could see her going through. However, since there were 2 other singers, neither of which I cared for myself, with AGT audiences being known for voting for singers in the past, you just never know. I'm positive at least one singer will go through, and if that's the case, it probably won't be Daniela, no matter how lovely she finally was this week. And Piff the Magic Dragon as well as the ventriloquist (who both happen to be British) have it in a bag already as far as I'm concerned.
Anyway, here's her performance from last night:

The staging was gorgeous but her singing voice just sounds too weird to me. She sounds as if she's got a frog in her throat. And she doesn't have very good technique. When she sings with her head voice her whole head should not shake or tremor-that indicates tension in the throat which after a while takes it's toll on the vocal folds.

Haha, yeah, that's why I commented that she isn't exactly effortless in her singing. I was being nicer to her here than I was in previous posts, where I mention her briefly but dismiss her, because, peculiar as it is, it's actually her best performance. I also commend her choice of song, and actually the tone of her voice is nice, if she'd just get some voice lessons. If you think she sounds weird here, you might be appalled at her version of Bring Him Home. It was very weird. She seemed to change her technique all throughout the song (and there I did say she could definitely use some work on her technique). And her Con Te Partiro in her audition was cringeworthy enough that if I had been a judge, I would not have let her through at all! But the judges probably don't hear that type of singing enough to know what's good and what isn't. Her Evita was better, but then she ended on a really high note that didn't really work for me. Oh, in case anyone is wondering, Daniela did not make it last night.. and neither did any of the other singers! I can't say I'm sad about that. Singers are so boring on AGT. They used to win the show all the time, and I rarely agreed with the result. Now, a singer hasn't won since 2011, and I honestly think the era of singers winning AGT is pretty much over, because the singers for the most part are pretty good, but don't really stand out. When there's so much variety of acts on the show that you don't see on any other talent show, you tend to root for them rather than singers. I don't know who will win this year, but let me just say this: I'm renaming the show America's Got British Talent, this season anyway. Because there are 3 acts from the UK (England and Scotland) who are doing very well in the competition, and could very well win. I'm hoping the guy from Scotland won't win, though. His act is sort of a side-show/danger/magic act, and is not for anyone with a weak stomach. LOL I'm a bit appalled at how well he's done, since every week he gets rave reviews and gets voted through. Heidi Klum actually says he's her favorite.

I haven't actually watched AGT in years. I just occasionally watch clips on YouTube. The singers AGT had produced, in my opinion, aren't very good or even noteworthy. Some of the others acts, like Jeff Dunham, are pretty good. He's really funny! I often have to remind myself that AGT is a talent show and that means singing isn't the only or primary talent. In recent years, I've viewed AGT as something of a joke, unfortunately.

I don't even always get that excited about all of them, I just find it entertaining as a whole, I guess. And I agree, the singers are not much good. Jackie's the only "noteworthy" one, but of course, she's not for everyone. And when you think about it, even the singing shows like American Idol and the Voice have really not produced any megastars... just Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, and Jennifer Hudson (but who hears about her anymore?). Some others have been mildly successful, and I would call them somewhat noteworthy, but none that are mega-stars, by any stretch of the imagination. And notice that all 3 of those people are from AI, and not the Voice. As much as people like that show these days, nobody knows who they are unless they watch the show! Who's Jeff Dunham? What about the Olate Dogs, though, they were so much fun and soooo cute!! And they won the same year that Ashleigh & Pudsey won on BGT! It was the year of the dogs on the GT shows that year (2012).

Hello Libby! Jeff Dunham is a ventriloquist. There are some funny videos available on YouTube, but the content is too strong for a family forum in my opinion, so I won't post them here. Richard

Ah, well there was a ventriloquist who won the 2nd season, Terry Vador. He made his puppets sing and "they" were quite talented. This year's ventriloquist (forgot his name) is also very good and unique. He's also very attractive. LOL But I still want Piff and Mr. Piffles (his dog) to win. I have no idea what his real name is, though! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif But, just as long as the "professional regurgitator" doesn't win. I still can't believe the voters want to keep seeing that stuff!

Richard Haha, he didn't win, he came in 4th. However, my prediction of America's Got British Talent came true. The ventriloquist won. It's the 2nd time a ventriloquist has won. Piff didn't make into the top 5. He was kind of weird last night, so it's understandable.
