Cardbord Cathedral 10th May 2014
This concert was originally to be held on Valentines Day but was postsponed to May. Fiona and her band were part of this concert. The Cathedral was full with about 600 people.
The concert started with the The Choir of Christchurch Cathedral performing several songs including Ave Maria (Anton Bruckner). The choir consists of men and boys from the Cathedral Grammar School.
Then Fiona , Ian, Peter Fleming and Mike Ferrar performed for 20 minutes.
They opened with Jalousie .
Then the beautiful but sad song Daylight .
The up beat gypsy song My Pal the Gypsy .
The next song Fiona gave us the option of Sunrise Sunset or a brand new song. Of course we wanted the new song. When Fiona played last time in the cardboard Cathedral people said to her it looked like a giant Toblerone chocolate bar so she wrote a song about the cathedral and called it Toblerone Tango .
The last song was Full Moon .
The choir came back on and played some more songs including Somewhere Over the Rainbow and Quanta Qualia . This last song the Director Brian Law loved because he heard our Hayley sing it on one of her CDs.
Then the other main performer came on stage and it was Dame Malvina Major.
She performed This Is My Lovely Day (Bless the Bride) and Nun's Chorus (Cassanova).
Then the choir joined her for the last part of the concert.
They performed Love Live For Ever (Pagannini) , Bless This House and Easter Hymn (Cavalliera Rusticana).
I had a quick chat with Fiona and Ian at the end of the concert.
