None of the glitz, the dancing or the soft porn, or indeed the politics has anything at all to do with music. I think calling it a "song contest" is a misnomer. It is a political popularity contest with each country staging a visual spectacle that also happens to include music. The music is not even secondary!

Hello Paul! The easiest way to embed a video is to click on the clapperboard icon and paste the URL in the pop-up box. This also works with some other videos in addition to YouTube. Richard

I heard on the news last night that Russia wants to pull out of this competition and hold its own "Voice of Eurasia." They only want to compete with singers who share their "values." With less competition they'll have more chance of winning and at least the rest of us won't have to watch the Russian republics give each other "douze pointes !"

'Rise Like A Phoenix' by Conchita Wurst has entered this week's UK Singles Chart at No.17. www.officialcharts.com/singles-chart/I'll be very surprised if it has a long run in the charts. He/she has had his/her fifteen minutes of international fame, the silly sausage! Richard

I mean no offense by this, but every time I see this person's image on my timeline on FB, I think that I'm glad I'm not eating, because if I were, I would get nauseous. Also, other uses of the name Wurst come to mind, though spelled a bit differently.

Hello Libby! I've stopped eating sausages too! If he/she ever gets married, the vows will say "For Better or for Wurst!" 'Rise Like a Phoenix' has gone down like the Titanic to No.64 in the UK Singles Chart: www.officialcharts.com/singles-chart/Richard
