I think we're all getting a bit too serious here if you ask me. The part I thought was mildly funny was the part about the abridged version. I guess I meant it as a sort of stupid funny. I don't think their perspective of it all is really worth getting all indignant. It was probably someone who has little if any interest in weddings, if all they can say about it is that it was raining. Wise words, Libby. It's all a matter of personal opinion at the end of the day and everyone's entitled to express their own. Suffice it to say that I found the style of the article to be, shall we say, 'unusual' - but I'm sure some or even many will like it. Cheers, Dave

Hello folks! I really enjoyed the article too. It was written in an informal style, which I thought was appropriate for Hayley and Arnaud. It may have looked like a princess marrying her prince, but it wasn't a royal wedding as such. Richard

It was probably someone who has little if any interest in weddings, if all they can say about it is that it was raining. As for Jillian's description of the article, syrupy is similar to the word "drippy". I didn't necessarily agree with her description, since I loved reading the article, but that is her opinion. She is not a professional literary critic, so I don't see why we're so concerned about what words she uses. I haven't noticed anyone 'getting a bit too serious here' or 'all indignant' - certainly not I nor Jillian. So not sure who the 'we' might be. We communicate and discuss through words, so it is sometimes necessary to clarify what someone else means. 'Syrupy' does not have any obvious meaning in relation to literary style, hence my query. Now I see that it means how the article made Jillian feel. Nobody has criticised or 'graded' anyone else's vocabulary that I'm aware of. As regards the 'humorous' gossip articles, 'stupid funny' drivel seems a good description to me. So ... all is calm, all is bright. Paddy

You either like it or you don't. For me, I am pleased to read any news about Hayley in the press. If it hadn't been for Woman's Day, we would now a lot less about the wedding than we do. We certainly would not have seen those gorgeous photos. I'm sure it really was a beautiful occasion. It's love's young dream for sure. Portrayed in a very idealistic way that is as you say probably fantasy. Hayley and Arnaud are real people, warts and all, who have decided to embark on a relationship. I'm sure like all marriages there will be difficulties to overcome. As I found out myself, the difference between a marriage that lasts and one that doesn't is whether or not the couple love each other enough to overcome those difficulties. If you love each other enough they don't matter, since love, as St Paul wrote, endures all things.
I feel sure that Hayley's English lyric to La Califfa was about her and Arnaud. And knowing that Arnaud's parents split up, his attitude is understandable. That has a terrible effect on a child, and can make one doubt the power of love. But I think again as St Paul said, real love is eternal.
Even if you are very different people, if the love is there it can work and work well. Sue and I were very different people, and hardly had a cross word in 35 years. If you would rather lose the argument than upset your partner, that is one aspect of love. But you both have to think like that, otherwise one of you will become a slave.
From what I have seen, I am sure Hayley and Arnaud have enough love to last a lifetime and beyond.

Finally back on here again, personal issues mean I'm an infrequent visitor these days.
Congratulations to Hayley & Arnaud.
To explain what I said about my surprise about the magazine exclusive. I understand that celebrities are big business these days and huge amounts of media time and space are taken up by "celebrity" news because so many members of the public are obsessed with celebrity. My surprise was because Hayley has never come across as a celebrity in the modern sense of looking for publicity for the sake of it like so many do. She's just a normal down-to-earth young lady who is rightly famous for her talents rather than her celebrity, a far cry from so many celebrities who want every bit of publicity.
Hopefully I will manage to get a copy of the magazine.
And again, congratulations to the very happy couple.

Hi Keith, I think that because Hayley is such a low-key celebrity, it would probably be unnecessarily secretive for her to not publicly share some photos of her wedding (and if she can get some income from it, why not?). Because when you think about it, everything we know about Hayley's personal life (particularly her relationship with Arnaud) has come entirely from her mouth and she chooses what she discloses and how. It's not like other celebrities where there's paparazzi in the trees outside their homes and all of their personal dealings are publicised whether they like it or not. The issue with some of those uber celebrities selling photos is that it almost encourages 'open season' amongst the paparazzi and the tabloids -- something I honestly doubt that Hayley will ever have to worry about. The reality is that if Hayley hadn't done these interviews (and blabbling New Zealand connections aside) we would probably have never known she was even dating, engaged, married etc. It's probably a means for Hayley to publicly acknowledge an important part of her life. lol I mean, if she shrouded everything in a complete cone of silence Arnaud would probably think she was embarrassed by him Besides, it's really useful for Hayley to quietly remind the New Zealand public of her presence. Hayley's high profile in New Zealand is a very valuable safety-net for her. Regardless of what happens elsewhere in the world, her profile there always means that she will be able to have a career in music. You either like it or you don't. Exactly. Everything you said. Especially the part about reminding the public of her presence. But every time any news appears, there are always dreadful comments about her. Why are they so mean there?

Everyone is always mean in online comments on news articles. For example, read any article about the British Royal Family - the comments are always really nasty. But say when it came time for the Royal Wedding, there were thousands in the streets celebrating. I think that the vocal complainers just make the most noise.
Afterall, Hayley's consistent excellent charting in New Zealand demonstrates her popularity there.

Neat article! Thanks for posting!
Interesting though, I wonder which dress the article referred to-"pink corset dress." I can only recall one dress that matches that description but it was worn to the Fashion is Art VIP launch in 2011...

Hello folks! I'm very surprised that Decca haven't yet posted a news item on Hayley's official website about her wedding. At least you can read about it on the official forum, but if you don't look at that... Richard

Speaking of dresses, here is a much bigger picture of Hayley's dress. You can see the lace detail a lot better here: Nikki Lovrich has also done a write up on her website about Hayley's makeup:
