ok. anyone here that can ask Hayley personally? Without her listening to it herself I doubt if Hayley remembers sufficiently to know although she might recognise it re-hearing it. Should she be be bothered though? I'm inclined to think not. Perhaps if someone can select it on their Ipod or what ever and have it with them at Cadogan Hall... and she has time..? Peter S Calling Steve and Stuart Hayter... From what I've heard Steve and Stuart also have a mighty impressive collection of Hayley video clips and songs on their iPods... Steve and Stuart, have you added clips of the "mystery" song to your collection of iPod files too? Regards, Andrew

Hi Guy's, Sorry i don't know what the song is . as bella has said maybe it was to be on Pure but did not make it, or it may have been on the first Pure remember Hayley recorded Pure twice first i think in Ireland. Belinda As many of you will know, chapter seven of Hayley's book is entitled 'Unheard Melody'. The first version of 'Pure' is discussed in this chapter. Apparently the first recording included "a clever version of Elgar's 'Nimrod' variation", to which Jim Hall and Bob Runga had put words. I'm sure this would have sounded totally fantastic! It's a shame it "got lost in the mild confusion when the decision to scrap" the first version of 'Pure' was taken. Having said that according to the book, the first version of 'Pure' had artificial backings and drum beats on it, so it would never have "breathed" like the version of 'Pure' which we are all familiar with does! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifMaybe one day Hayley will treat us all to a rendition of Elgar's 'Nimrod variation'? How wonderful that would be! It's always great for one to have in mind a piece that they would love to hear Hayley sing. I heard Hayley recite Elgar's 'Nimrod variation' in a dream- it was absolutely divine! Regards, Andrew

Dave (or one of the other wonderful admins), could I ask you to possibly upload this video somewhere? The first link says the page doesn't exist, and the second says "There is no plug-in to play content." Please, I've been wondering about this all day! -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Hello Taylor and everyone, The '1996-2002' and 2005 videos on the archived website do not seem to be currently playable, although they were last year and previously. The other years seem to play OK. I have looked at the .html code and there are some subtle differences between the years that play and the years that do not, so I'll have a look at it more closely later today so see if it's easily fixable. The archive videos rely on Windows Media file plugins provided by the Microsoft website so I presume that Microsoft have changed the way these are handled and this has broken the video pages concerned. Regarding the mystery song snippet, I have just listened to it and like everyone else in this thread, I too am baffled. If you wait until I fix the page, you too can become baffled! Cheers, Dave

Hello Dave! It won't make any difference to me if it's the song I think it is. I was baffled before and I'm sure I'll be completely baffled again! Richard

Hi everyone, Prepare to be baffled! Here is the video, I've improved it a bit and uploaded it to our Youtube channel as unlisted. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dZhl_dVziAI think the mystery song snippet is at 3 minutes in, and lasts for just over 5 seconds initially but returns on and off for about 30 seconds. I haven't figured out what to do about the broken archive pages yet, bit tricky! But it's well worth watching the entire video if you haven't already seen it - it's from 2002, before Pure was released! Cheers, Dave

Oh ........It is lovely to see that again after so many years.
Still don't recognise the song at 3:00
But the bit of Who Painted the Moon Black, I wonder was that the Dublin recording or the London recording. The backing music is not the same as appeared on the album version on Pure.

Sounds a bit like Coventry Carol.
