In Katherine's latest E! News interview she sang (and taught the interviewer) a little Welsh lullaby in honour of the royal baby: www.youtube.com/watch?v=4s9QALFIqasIt's really nice I think, anyone who knows the name of this song?

Oh, so she's not doing an "official" song for the baby like Hayley did? I was going to say, so much for Decca's great idea! Well, I do anyway, but that would have made it worse. At least KJ gets interviewed by the actual entertainment news people. Do you think Hayley gets those sort of letters "commanding" her performance, or whatever she said?

Sounds like Suo Gan, a traditional Welsh lullaby.

Yes it's definitely 'Suo Gân'. Here's Katherine singing it at Norwich Cathedral in December 2005, complete with Welsh and English lyrics: www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNIClkGuqkMI think it's from an edition of Songs of Praise. Richard

I had hoped 'Suo Gân' would be on Hushabye
But. Why Worry ? .. I have a great version by the wonderful Nana Mouskouri.
All through the night on Hushabye is lovely though

Whoa...She got to perform A LOT for the coronation festival! Though I must admit, this is a wonderful performance www.youtube.com/watch?v=rE5sXN6TTNQ, Vow to thee my country? I think, in tune of World in Union (Jupiter) and an 8 minute long session of two songs Ancora Non Sai and I Could Have Danced All Night www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mNgCTPciMEIt'd have been amazing if hayley was asked to sing, it'd have made people be more informed when they speak about Sleep on, they'd atleast be like, yes she sang just recently at the coronation festival thing!

But seriously, Hayley and Kiri Te Kanawa on the same bill? Do you really think it could happen? Mind you, I gather Dame Kiri has been critical of Katherine Jenkins too, who she doesn't regard as a serious singer. Mind you Laura Wright, who was also these, dismissed Dame Kiri's comments about thin singers as "Rubbish".

I don't think it would make a difference martin, but the fact that both of them are from NZ is the only reason why both of them wouldn't be in a show. Because in these international shows you have one person representing one country. But now that you've mentioned it'd be interesting to quote what all the parties said Kiri: "Dame Kiri told The Radio Times in May when Katherine’s name was mentioned: ‘We should talk about serious classical singers if you want to stick to the subject." Jenkins: "I don’t think Dame Kiri ever says these things. I think she’s been misquoted, as is so often the case. ‘When I met her, she was a lovely person, so I’m going to ignore it" And then the Laura issue: Kiri: "You have got to have beef on you if you’re going to sing." Laura: "‘It is so stupid she has highlighted body stuff." LOL XD "Clash of the divas" was the so-called article's name.

LOL XD "Clash of the divas" was the so-called article's name. Laura cycles and runs regularly at an athletic level, I don't think she needs beef on her to maintain a pace like Laura can, having beef on you and being physically fit are two different things Maybe Kiri is nearer the chicken wings stage of her life.

But seriously, Hayley and Kiri Te Kanawa on the same bill? Do you really think it could happen? It has actually happened once. And only once. It was at the beginning of the ChCh Memorial concert. Hayley, Kiri, and two others came onto the stage and sang the national anthem, with Kiri and Hayley standing side by side. Here's a video I've just found; never seen it before.Pardon me, that's Dame Malvina, not Kiri. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

However, these were extreme times, so I understand why they would both be asked to sing, being major NZ icons in the music industry. Unless there's another disaster (which I strongly hope there isn't), this probably won't happen again. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifHi Taylor, At first look, it looked like Dame Malvina Major standing beside Hayley. I figured that the other woman was Dame Kiri te Kanawa. When I looked her up on Google images, she doesn't look like the other woman. However, I see that Dame Malvina is mentioned as being in attendance, but not Dame Kiri te Kanawa. Can you shed more light on what you have posted? BobS www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUGGdZyJeRI

That wasn't Dame Kiri te Kanawa, it was another Maori opera singer.

Oh dear. Pardon me, that is Dame Malvina. Sorry for the mix up!! I'm not exactly familiar with the appearance of either Dame, so I just kinda assumed.... This proves you should never jump to conclusions! -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif
