susieverity are you saying that it's Decca's fault that Hushabye is less classical? Wasn't that hayley's choice to make this album this way? Sing it in a non-classical way? I wonder why she didn't choose to interpret half of them in a classical way when this genre could have easily been, when there are consequences like these. (Though I love the tracks as they are perfectly too)

Simba, I'm saying that as this album was Decca's idea in the first place, I assumed that they wanted to make a classical album that would chart well in the classical charts, otherwise they had/have very little chance of a good chart position as the only radio station that will play the songs on Hushabye is Classic FM. The arrangements sound classical to me so I thought it would qualify, so that's why I was asking what is the percentage classical and non classical on the album, I'm genuinely interested as I'm not sure myself what counts as classical and non classical for the charts. Out of 13 tracks 5 are 'traditional' according to the album notes and I thought this counts as classical.
It seems that Dave is right, they have either made a mistake with track selection or they thought they could get more radio 2 play this way.

Hi Dave, So what is the percentage classical and non classical on Hushabye? It must be a mistake on Decca's part that it doesn't qualify as they are missing out on air play, I can't see radio 2 playing it much. Susie Hi Susie, I did a calculation based on what I think will qualify as classical tracks and it was 53% classical without When At Night being classical, and about 62% with it. The tracks I think count as classical are: 1. Pretty Little Horses Traditional 4. Sleep On Music by Paul Mealor / Lyrics by Brendan Graham 5. Twinkle Twinkle Traditional 6. Go To Sleep Traditional arranged by T-Bone Burn 7. Brahms Lullaby Johannes Brahms 9. All Through The Night Traditional 11. Hine E Hine Traditional The others are: 2. Hushabye Mountain Robert B Sherman / Richard M Sherman 3. Dream A Little Dream Gus Kahn / Fabien Andre / Wilbur Schwandt 8. Goodnight My Angel Billy Joel 10. Baby Mine Frank Churchill / Ned Washington 12. When At Night Engelbert Humperdinck 13. Stay Awake Richard M. Sherman / Robert B. Sherman "Traditional" usually count as classical if they are produced classically. Of the "others" I think only Engelbert Humperdinck is a recognised classical composer but the trouble with that is probably either not "being true to the original" (first verse being sung solo when it's really a duet) or not "being capable of performance in a live setting" (second verse is double-tracked). Producing it as a duet with any other singer would have solved that problem (if it was the problem) That's my best guess, anyway. There's nothing to stop Classic FM playing the classical tracks though, but not in the chart show. Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave,
That's interesting, they have some strange rules, so it is very close which is what I thought. Obviously Classic FM can still play it, but I think it would have been much better if it had made the chart. Seems they have made an album which is too classical for radio 2 but not quite classical enough for classic FM chart, which is a very strange thing to do. I hope that there will be more promo or something when the baby is born.

Susie Hi Susie, I now have a feeling that *something* big will happen regarding Sleep On, and if so, it may have a knock-on effect onto Hayley and Hushabye. That's why I said a while back that I hope Decca have a plan (are able to stock or re-stock the supermarkets quickly if a big demand for Hushabye arises and not just rely on downloads). I am sure Bandana will be geared up for media enquiries as necessary. We should know in a couple of weeks time, it could be quite exciting! Cheers, Dave

There's all sorts of rumours that Duchess Catherine may have announced a false due date. Apparently Diana did the same thing with Prince William and announced it as 10 days earlier than it really was, presumably to give her some peace in the lead up to the birth. If Catherine has done the same thing, it will no doubt cause everyone to jump into action! That would schedule the birth for the next few days

After floating around the lower end of the top 100, Hushabye has suddenly risen to No. 28 on the Amazon.co.uk Main Albums chart! Hushabye is also still No. 1 in Opera & Vocal. Here too, we see rises in the popularity of RoD at No. 3 and Pure at No. 11. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

I certainly hope you're right, Dave. Is it just a feeling, or a hint from Bandana? Hi all, Well, at least Hushabye is charting MUCH better than Winter Magic did. Which is an achievement, as Winter Magic is probably an album with more widespread appeal. Although I do remember the release of Winter Magic was a right shammozzle, with the release date being changed at the last minute and it being virtually unavailable to purchase anywhere in hard copy. At least that didn't happen this time around. But then again, as this was meant to be a concept 'cash grab' album, it doesn't really appear to be achieving its purpose.... Well, despite poor sales and the fact that it wasn't quite my idea of a Christmas album, I like it far better than Hushabye.

Well, despite poor sales and the fact that it wasn't quite my idea of a Christmas album, I like it far better than Hushabye. And here I am trying to decide whether or not I like Hushabye better than Paradiso! The more I play Hushabye, the more I like it. It has wonderful subtleties, and somehow it feels more "Hayley" than Paradiso. Both albums are very different, but in their own ways are equally brilliant I think. Martin D

Obviously Paradiso is mostly Ennio Morricone, with Hayley's voice, and a few of her lyrics, added to it. I don't have to decide, I already know I like all her other albums better than Hushabye. Well, I might like it better than her 2 early albums, based on vocal quality, though. I own those mostly for collection. I haven't listened to those in ages.

Hi all,
Just had a look at the UK charts and Hushabye has fallen out of the top 100.
Cheers, Jillian

Seven spots ahead of Michael Buble! That's something, I guess.
