I am surprised that none of our members are talking about this beautiful singer. Elīna Garanča watch the hands ! Is she feeling vibrations through her fingers, It is a very attractive gesture, whatever she is doing . Have a look at Barcarolle and The Flower Duet with Anna Netrebko ... WoW ! Elīna Garanča a little about her

There aren't many singers who can do justice to a song that has been sung by Edith Piaf.
But this is one.
or try these for Pure class.

Hi Paul, The Flower duet you posted is perhaps the nicest version of it that I've ever heard. Exquisite. And in the new one you just posted, didn't Elīna go low! Cheers, Dave

Cheers, Dave Just mis-read go low as glow blind as a bat without the specs these days. I suppose she does both, glow and go low.. Yes, they really are great together.

This video appears to be the best of a concert from Amsterdam,

and then I stayed up watching Elīna Garanča videos on YouTube until the sun came up, what a performer, so much material to watch.

Thanks for that video Paul, most enjoyable, she's a great opera singer! I was pleasantly surprised to hear the 2nd performance in the video - Wagner's Flying Dutchman Overture... one of my favourites, even better when heard 'live' in concert! I like this old Von Karajan recording of it. Cheers, Dave

Err.. she's a bit compelling isn't she? Martin D There are other words you might use Martin, but yes, she is, also versatile, have a look at some of the earlier videos in the thread, Autumn Leaves or the Barcarolle..with the opera pieces it is part acting which she does quite nicely with the confidence of experience. Elina came sneaking into my consciousness through the radio on RTE Lyric Fm, I have radios on all over the house and in my workshop and occasionally you hear something exceptional that makes you stop what you are doing and just listen. I would hear this wonderful voice and then the name Elīna Garanča, it took me quite a while to make an effort to follow it up by doing searches on YouTube and elsewhere, I now have three of her albums and intend to pick up a few more. I would love to see her at close quarters in concert, I might get lucky at the National Concert Hall in Dublin if she turns up there.

Hi Dave, Maybe we watched different videos, the second piece in the Garanca Amsterdam video is Verdi : Overture to La Forza del Destino without any input from Garanca. There is an index a few comments down when you you go to YouTubeOh No. I really shouldn't be watching videos at this hour of the morning, I'm supposed to be working.

Hi Paul, Yes, I like that one too! I went off to do other things part way through and by the time I returned to the computer, it had gone Dutch and befuddled my mind. My Youtube has an annoying habit of automatically playing random videos when the one I was watching has finished, it picked Wagner! Cheers, Dave

and this is why "I just want to look up something quickly on the computer" can in fact take four hours

Hello Dave and Paul! YouTube's Autoplay function annoys me too, but you can switch it off in the settings or by unticking the box in the top right corner. Richard
