These are exciting times. Love all the comments posted. Cannot wait to get the album. I am looking forward to hear "Hush Little Baby". For some odd reason it has been in my head ever since I hear Hayley's Bao Bei from her Taiwan concerts. If Decca is marketing this album the way I think it is going to be, reading the upcoming press releases will be just as interesting as the actual album. Drip... Drip....Drip... indeed wow.. even my local Chinese newspaper Sing Tao Daily picked up the news release on this album.

It has to be said that our expectations were sky-high after "Paradiso" and Hayley's best ever album was always going to be a hard act to follow and whereas I can't see myself chilling out to "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" after a long day, the new album is not so much a step backwards as a step in an entirely new direction. Whether it's a direction that many people will follow remains to be seen. I have visions of sitting in a concert hall on the yet-to-be-announced "Hushabye" tour surrounded by young mums with squealing babies but just grateful that none of them are mine !! Many years ago I once joked with Roger that people would buy a Hayley CD even if she sang "Three Blind Mice" and we're not far off that, are we ?! It seemed unthinkable at the time but it looks as if my theory will be put to the test. I'm with you, Libby. I'm wondering what the album after this one will be. You never know, we could go from one extreme to the other. With the Vera Lynn connection we may get an album of wartime songs, to be enjoyed by elderly folks in nursing homes ! That scenario you describe sounds pretty awful, actually. Definitely not the ideal setting for a Hayley concert. Anyway, I doubt there will be a tour. But I'm sure if there are any concerts this year, she'll sing songs from the album. Not everyone agrees that Paradiso was Hayley's best album ever. I still can barely bring myself to choose one album over the other. Paradiso was definitely very impressive as far as who she got to work with, and the way all the songs showed off her beautiful classical voice. And even allowed her to use her voice in ways she never has before (Amalia). However, I've always loved the style of Treasure best. The variety of song selections. And especially the songs that Hayley wrote. I was especially delighted when I saw that she was singing Shenandoah, because I knew and liked that song already. Actually, when I visited her site and discovered she was coming out with Treasure, the first song I heard was Shenandoah, so I became ecstatic the minute I arrived at the site. Then, Pure was her most successful, so because of that, you could say it was her best. Also a great selection of songs for her to sing. As far as variety goes, Pure is better than Paradiso. There's very little variety on Paradiso. I thought of a Dame Vera Lynn connection the other day, but I was thinking of the school that she's president of, and how the children and parents there will love to hear Hayley's beautiful lullabies. Yes, I said beautiful, because of course I believe they will be. I listened to Twinkle a 2nd time last night, and I found that I really disagree with Simba. I think she sang it perfectly. She sang it with warmth and feeling in her voice, way better than the way she sang Chestnuts on WM. Way better. More like Silent Night. I've always the way she sang Silent Night on WM sounded like a lullaby. She may be singing in a lower note than other times, but it doesn't sound weak or whispery at all to me. I think she sang it just right for how her voice is now, and for the theme of the song.

I know! They are all horrible! But judging from the comments, they wouldn't like anything she did, so there's no point in worrying about their opinions. But it still angers me to see it.

It's still how many people "liked" some of the comments Since the comments were on an article published by NZ Press, they bring to mind a forum posting of "scoobeedoo", about 5 months ago, with an interesting explanation of such. (See - Miscellaneous - Image in classical crossover - page 1 - Reply #14) Incidentally, the person (a New Zealander) referred to in my post that he has quoted has shown up now in grand style on the new Decca video, "Twinkle, Twinkle". www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGGDfc9gerQBobS

Please guys, can we ignore he who follows everything 'Hayley' around the Internet in order to post negative comments? He's been doing it for years, seems to be obsessed with KJ versus Hayley album sales and spouts unconstructive and often incorrect nonsense about them. He has no place in any sensible or reasoned debate or discussion about Hayley or her work, and is best ignored. I gave up on trying to correct him (with facts) years ago. On a positive note, it's great to see what a keen public interest Jon Cohen is taking in the success of this album and its tracks, thanks Jon, we'll try to do our bit, too! Cheers, Dave

Thanks for sharing, Bob! There's some interesting nuggets of info in that article, including a mention that Sleep On is the only original track on Hushabye.
