Hayley is to appear on Songs of Praise again on Palm Sunday 24th March. www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2013/easter-2013.htmlThe bit that matters is Songs Of Praise will broadcast two special programmes during the Easter period. In what has been an historic time both for the Church of England and the Catholic Church, on Palm Sunday Songs Of Praise reflects the recent events both in Canterbury and Rome. Bill Turnbull talks to Justin Welby, the newly enthroned Archbishop of Canterbury, about the significance of Holy Week and introduces seasonal hymns and readings from the spectacular setting of Canterbury Cathedral with actress Emilia Fox, soprano Hayley Westenra and the Cathedral Choristers.Martin D N.B. - Edited thread title after moving post...JoeEdit by Dave: Unfortunately, this appearance will not now be happening

Hi Martin D, That was a good find... I've made your post the beginning of a new thread The article does not really give a definite transmission date ("during the Easter period").

That's a great find Martin D, being well before the Easter TV schedules have been announced. I hope it's a new performance, preferably of something we don't have many existing videos of, though anything Hayley sings will of course brighten the programme. Joe, it does specify Palm Sunday, so I've fixed your title fix. Cheers, Dave

Great! I'm dying to know which "seasonal hymn" she might sing! There don't seem to be any in her current repertoire, so you would think she would sing something new. She's done Amazing Grace there already, so it had better not be that.

Hi Joe,
SOP is usually around 5pm on Sundays on BBC1. I doubt Palm Sunday will be much different.

Hi everyone, It looks like we may be in for a disappointment on Palm Sunday, as Hayley seems to have been replaced by Lexie Stobie, according to the programme description and credits, which are now up on the BBC S of P site. I have added a question mark to the thread title. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01rllx5I guess she could appear the following week, but I am not hopeful. Perhaps she decided to stay in NZ for longer than originally planned (if it was planned at all when S of P was booked), but who knows? Dave

Hi everyone,
Hayley's management have now confirmed that unfortunately, due to time constraints, this appearance will not now go ahead, but they hope to arrange something similar for later in the year.
I have amended the thread title accordingly.

Hello Dave,
I've posted a note about this cancellation on our Facebook page and deleted Joe's earlier post there.

Pity. I was looking forward to it. It's been too long since we heard anything new from Hayley.

It was indeed a shame that Hayley could not record for SOP. A BBC school report, filed by two students from a Canterbury Catholic school, showed the filming and post-production work for the Palm Sunday programme .... www.bbc.co.uk/schoolreport/21906573

Thanks Joe.
I actually watched the show last night. It was a very special one, following the enthronement of the Archbishop, and I would have loved it if Hayley had been part of it. Alas, it was not to be, no doubt because of Hayley's busy schedule. The girl who replaced her was competent and enjoyable to listen to, but nowhere near Hayley.
