Hello everyone! In my time on the forum I've already heard many stories of the first time many of us were truly blown away by Hayley. There are so many of us from different countries, backgrounds and age groups, I find it interesting to hear how many different and unique experiences all of us have had, so I've created a thread where we can all share our own. I'm not aiming as much at the first time we ever saw/heard Hayley, but more at those moments that got us all hooked (which may be the same times, but not always). For me it was when I saw this video. I had known of Hayley for awhile but this performance truly touched me. It was actually my first time hearing "Scarborough Fair," and I loved every second of it. The guitar and Hayley's voice together just took me away and it was then that I knew I had to hear more from her . www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uZCYrPB2FM&sns=emSo feel free to share your own experiences, I'm sure many of yours are very different and interesting -Rory

You know Rory, I had never seen that video.Does anyone know when and where that was recorded. Actually I love my own video of Hayley performing that song, from Beaumanor Hall in Leicestershire, one of the only two occasions that Hayley has performed in my home county. www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0zotVShxtA&list=UUbw8JnrNuB0LxNTxt4EGY1g&index=15I love the way that Hayley is looking around and acknowledging people (usually by looking at them and a slight nod) she knows, including me, whilst delivering a wonderful performance of the song.. I can almost name the people she was looking at, knowing where most of them were sitting. Just watch her eyes. Oh and the out of focus white head you see in the front left occasionally is Grant. As for my own story, well, it is well documented. My first experience of Hayley was live. It was love at first hearing, the nearest thing to love at first sight I have ever experienced. She is still in my book the finest singer of my lifetime. And Rory, since you love to hear Hayley with a simple guitar accompaniment, how about this performance. www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlt5_JK5XTI&list=UUbw8JnrNuB0LxNTxt4EGY1gMartin D

Both were beautiful, as expected, Martin. Although you may have discovered as much already, the video I shared seems to be for the Herald Sun news ( www.heraldsun.com.au/), although it would appear to be something of a radio studio. Also if I recall correctly was Hayley sick for the concert in the latter video? If so, I surely couldn't tell. Not only did her voice sound sublime as ever, but she seemed to be full of energy. Perhaps the music awakened an inner livelihood that could not be quelled by sickness -Rory

The first time was on a compilation CD Songbirds I think and the track was Mary Did you Know.
and since, I'll just use a Bernie Taupin line :
How wonderful life is while you're in the world

I admired Hayley when I first saw her on PBS. Then when I saw her live in Nashville I was really impressed. Our seats weren't too close but I was still delighted to see her live. But when I was in the front row in Croyden and then in Dublin a few nights later I was awed when she took to the stage. She is the complete package....talent, beauty, personality and humility.I've seen her many more times since then and I still get the same warm fuzzy feeling every time I see her. Unfortunately it's been two years since I've seen her ; but I hope she does a UK or any other European tour this year. If so I'll be there for sure.
