Hey folks I've seen Hayley say that she plays a few instruments: I believe guitar, violin, and piano. I've seen a few videos where she plays piano, (beautifully, of course  but I can't find any clips or records of her playing anything else. Are there any videos out there? Or have any of you seen or heard about her playing another instrument live or in studio? -Rory |

She used to play violin while busking in NZ, and I'm sure there's a video somewhere... Also, during her Winter Magic tour, she played the sleigh bells for “Sleigh Ride,” but as far as I know, that's as much as we've gotten. Hi Rory,
At one point Hayley was taking guitar lessons from Andy Moore, who used to be in her band at concerts. It is he who is playing guitar on that video of Sleigh Ride (I know, I was behind the camera). Andy is a lovely guy, who was once a little unjustly told off by Hayley in a concert for improvising a bit too much for her taste. There was one memorable occasion when I saw things go totally pear shaped. I think it was actually a performance of Sleigh Ride. Afterwards Andy told my wife that he was trying to follow Hayley who lost it part way through and he didn't know where she was going. These things happen at live performances as I'm sure you as a musician know. Andy hasn't worked with Hayley for a couple of years now.
Like you, I hope one day we will see Hayley play guitar on stage. But she is a bit of a perfectionist, I don't think we will see that until she thinks she has mastered the instrument to her satisfaction.

Very interesting, Martin. And thanks for the video Dave! I've never seen Hayley play guitar before especially not in that kind of setting. I think I actually prefer that version of WPTMB to the record version. She seems like she can do pretty much anything musical with a decent level of success.

In the past, I've seen her mention "songwriting on my guitar" on Twitter before. So, it would seem she still practices on her own from time to time. However, she mentions her keyboard too, so she uses that, as well.

Going back several years, there is a photo of Hayley playing the harp. It's in this forum's "Funny pictures of Hayley" thread from a long time ago
