Hi all, Hayley has had a very successful 2012, quite evident when I was viewing some of her performances this year. I will post my top three videos in reverse order, revealing one a day, with my favorite video revealed on New Years Eve! My number three video contained a song that brought to mind a blockbuster movie of a great sea tragedy that took place over a century ago. Originally sung by Celine Dion, and performed marvelously by Hayley, coming in at number three is "My Heart Will Go On". www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqWfUrvYT3Y

I think I have 3 favorites too, and they all were performed in the latter half of this year. All songs she had performed numerous times throughout the past year, but she outdid herself in her last few performances of them. I'll wait to tell mine in case yours is one of them, so I won't spoil things for you.

Thanks for reminding me of that one Joe. I think that will be one of my favourites too.

Great idea, Joe! Somebody has commented on our Facebook page that he prefers Celine Dion's version of 'My Heart Will Go On', but he's entitled to share his opinion. I won't name him on the forum. Richard

She just doesn't have the pipes Hayley has. Larry

My second-most-favorite Hayley video of 2012 was recorded on September 8th. Belfast's Titanic Slipways (where the grand ship was launched) was the unique setting; the event was filmed for the BBC's Proms In the Park. My pick, and coming in at Number Two, is Hayley's tribute to Amália Rodrigues, "Amália Por Amor". www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPFnpZA_qgg

And now, my top Hayley video of 2012 is ... (drum roll, please...) Live from Carnegie Hall... Hayley sings 'Te Harinui' / 'White Christmas' www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Dj-BajFMtwSpecial thanks to member Tim J. for filming Hayley's grand performance and uploading it onto his YouTube page. Happy New Year's Eve everyone! From the bottom of my heart, a sincere 'thank you' to you for your support of HWI and of Hayley this year. In 2013 HWI will turn TEN YEARS old, and the best is yet to come.

One of my favorites was her recent performance of Whispers in a Dream at Carnegie Hall, recorded by Tim J: www.youtube.com/watch?v=aB7oG6SnhqE&feature=endscreen&NR=1It's the best she's ever performed this song live, in my opinion. Most of the other times, I had thought she was singing it a little too slow and heavy, with too much vibrato, which made the song seem more sad than it did on the album. I always liked the way she sang it on the album best, because it was lighter and more ethereal, more heavenly and hopeful-sounding. Here, it was almost like on the album again, except this time she added just a little more emotion and power to it than she did on the album, so it turned out just perfect!! At last, she got everything just right!

Well done Joe. That was a fantastic performance and I love that song. But I think it was beaten by her performance of Te Haranui/Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas that she did in her 2010 Christmas shows. I think she only coupled it with "White Christmas" becuase soneone else in the show sang "Have Youself". A pity, I think that would have been even better, and we would have had a decent quality video of it. I'm not sure there is a video of Te Haranui/Have Yourself anywhere on Youtube. I have a video I made myself at the Birmingham Symphony Hall, but it is visually of very poor quality, I was to close to Hayley at that show and looking upwards at her, and she was partly obscured from my camera by the speakers on the edge of the stage. The exposure was all wrong too. But it was a fabulous performance and one I'll never forget. So I made the video available on Mediafire rather than on my YouTube channel. You can download it here. www.mediafire.com/?flwaaqr4d36crqa#! The quality of Hayley's performance is fabulous, but of my photography, well, embarrassing. Talking of the Birmingham Symphony Hall, it is my favourite concert venue, with world class acoustics, and I was there again last night to see in the new year. The New Year Gala was great fun, and as always in that place, acoustically stunning. Hearing Hayley perform in that location, from the middle of the front row was something I will never forget. Personally, my favorite performance of Hayley's was when she sang "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" at the Gwyl Golbaith Festival HERE. Just so incredibly perfect! Also, Martin, there is a video of Te Harinui/Have Yourself HERE from Hayley's performance at the Barbican on Dec. 2nd, 2010. And your video actually isn't half bad! Her performance was amazingly beautiful. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

I was going to choose I Dreamed a Dream from Belfast, but really, anytime she's performed it is my favorite.

I agree Taylor, Hayley's Over the Rainbow from Gwyl Gobaith is a favourite of mine too - I'm so glad I was able to record it for posterity. Just such a stunning performance, just Hayley and Tim on the piano. Much as I love her with an orchestra, I think it is these simple performances that grab you and hold you that show what an amazingly talented singer Hayley is. She just makes it look effortless.

Martin D Over The Rainbow is one of my favorites also. Celtic Woman were on PBS in 2007 and I was watching them sing Over the Rainbow and when Hayley joined the group she raised it to a much higher level. I've been a Haley fan since . I've seen her 16 times and hope I get to see her again this year. Larry

Yes, I agree Larry, the 4 part harmony and interleaving voices on the CW version of that song are wonderful.
I remember there was a discussion on the BBC about thich version of that song was best, Judy Garland or Eva Cassidy. I remember commenting that I thought the Celtic Woman version was better than either, and was ignored by the BBC to the extent that my comment was moderated out. Well, that is the BBC for you, if it doesn't fit with their agenda they don't want to know.
I have learned to expect that from them, since 90% of my comments on their website never see the light of day.
