Hi Libby and Richard and everyone, I have been requested by Hayley's Management to post the following statement. This is not a Hayley comcert as such. Bandana Management, 10 August 2012
"It has come to our attention that the charity dinner at Portmeirion Village Hall in aid of the Welsh Air Ambulance service on Thursday 23rd August is being advertised in some places as 'An Evening With Hayley Westenra'.
"While Hayley is delighted to support Rhys Merrion's fantastic charity walk and to help raise funds for such a worthy cause by attending the dinner and possibly singing a couple of songs on an informal basis, we would like to make clear this is NOT a Hayley Westenra concert.
"Her official concert will be at the Gwyl Gobaith festival the following day, Friday 24th August. I will modify the schedules accordingly, would anyone who knows of other places where this has been posted mind updating them accordingly? I've updated the HWI website. Thanks! Dave

Thanks. The blurb about it is very misleading. Although since they say "a chance" to see her, that could be taken different ways. I blame the article, not spiderman. So it is a concert, just not a Hayley concert, correct? I'm wondering, though, how is the one on the 24th any different? She's only supposed to do a duet or 2 with Rhys there, so, to me, that isn't necessarily a "Hayley concert" either. The concert in Boston wasn't a Hayley concert either, and people could still go. I'm just a bit confused...

Hello Dave! The online information was certainly misleading here. Thanks for updating the schedules, and I see you've removed my post on our Facebook page too. This tweet from Portmeirion dated 2 August is the likely source: Richard

Thanks for that Martin D, and yes Libby the problem seems to have been the report in Caernarfon & Denbigh Herald, who seem to have misunderstood the situation. Yes it's a concert but not a Hayley concert as such, I couldn't fit any more than I did into the thread title though! It looks like she will be singing a couple of songs there "on an informal basis" so I assume that this is not 100% guaranteed but that seems to be the intention, and we know Hayley has her official concert in another part of North Wales on the following day. Bandana just wanted to make sure that Hayley fans (who might buy tickets and travel a long way) understood the situation and I think that was very helpful of them, so many thanks to Valerie. Of course, some of our older members may wish to visit Portmeirion for other reasons... www.portmeirion-village.com/content.php?nID=116&lID=1Cheers, Number 6 err... Dave

Hi everyone.
Have been keeping in touch through facebook and twitter as nothing much is happening but I'm still around.
Just wanted to take the opportunity of saying a "thank you" to Bandana for the effort to keep us informed.

From the Caernorfon Denbigh Herald: The concert, which takes place on August 23 at 7.30pm and features a chance to see opera singer Hayley perform in such an intimate setting, along with musicians Annette Bryn Parri and Dylan Cernyw. Perhaps Hayley will sing that well known operatic aria "Pokarekare Ana"? Martin

Although we were very close, Portmierion is one place we didn't check out on out visit to Wales last week. We heard they don't allow dogs unless they are Guide Dogs. Now, I know a lady who might be prepared to conduct a promise ceremony with our Dixie, but she wasn't with us. And then I don't know where you could get a uniform for a dog.... Martin D

Hello Jillian and Libby! I believe Hayley is only attending the fundraising dinner at Portmeirion Village Hall. I doubt if she'll need much persuading to sing a few songs. Richard

I don't think that says that Hayley is doing any walking. In any case it would be hard work in those skyscraper shoes she favours! Martin D

Hello Jillian and Libby! I believe Hayley is only attending the fundraising dinner at Portmeirion Village Hall. I doubt if she'll need much persuading to sing a few songs. Richard I was only commenting on their comment about the Herculean walk... not that I thought Hayley would actually be doing it... but they did say she would be taking part. But I didn't believe them.
