Seeing the picture of the venue in Athens leaves me wondering how the acoustics will compare there with Boston's Symphony Hall, noted for its fine acoustics. I am sure that Mario has been around the block enough times to know all about that, but the two venues are certainly different, that is for sure!
This concert will take place in Athens, Greece on 31 August, 2012. The listed venue will be the Odeon of Herod Atticus, which is a stone theatre built in the year 161 and is located on the south slope of the Acropolis.
Hayley will be a featured guest, as will be George Perris.
Mr Frangoulis and guests will be performing with the Symphony Orchestra of the Municipality of Athens, Loukas Karytinos.
Mario Frangoulis returned at the Herod Atticus on August 31 in light of the Moon and sings with soulful voice for all the "wonderful things" that illuminate our lives, in a rare evening dedicated to the children of the Association "Flame".
International Greek tenor presents the Athenian audience a unique musical stroll to the sounds and melodies of the new world record of the work, performing alongside favorite hits from his personal discography.
With him on stage will find the New Zealander soprano "phenomenon" Hayley Westenra and the talented Greek-French singer George Perris, known for his collaborations with some of the important Greek and foreign composers and performers: Mimis Plessas, Yiannis Spanos, Stephen Korkolis, Alcestis Cantor, Stephan Moccio and, Lara Fabi.
We would have loved to go to this concert having already experienced the same venue in 2005. On that occasion Hayley was scheduled to perform with Mario but was ill and did not travel. Although disappointed not to see Hayley the concert and setting is a memory we will never forget. In fact Denise still rates it her most memorable concert! Here are one or two pics from our archives!
