The first batch of performers has today been announced for this musical extravaganza, which will take place on 4th June in front of Buckingham Palace London to celebrate 60 years of The Queen's reign.
The initial list includes Alfie Boe and Lang Lang, both of whom I know are popular among some of our members. Also announced are: Dame Shirley Bassey, Sir Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney, Ed Sheeran, JLS, Jools Holland, Jessie J, Tom Jones, Annie Lennox, Madness and Cliff Richard.
This is a joint venture between the BBC and Gary Barlow and it was discussed on tonight's "The One Show" on BBC1 TV. I will quote part of what Gary Barlow replied when asked if The Queen had specified the type of music she'd like to hear at the concert; he said:
More performers will be announced in due course.

They said on The One Show that tickets will be allocated randomly in twos, not first come first served, and you need a UK address. It will be televised live or recorded pretty well everywhere, highlights the following day on ABC in the US.
This could be quite an exciting event!
Cheers, Dave

"We've had a few requests from the Princes, about the type of artist they'd like, and The Queen has specified that she'd like to focus on The Commonwealth, artists from The Commonwealth, although we are [also] having global artists, artists from all over the World."
