...And spelling Hayley's name has nothing to do with one's accent. It's because many girls with that name spell it without the extra 'y', as well as various other spellings. It's completely understandable. ... The name "Hayley" is prominently displayed at the top of every page in this site and shows up in people's posts routinely. If one is unfamiliar with Hayley, it doesn't take much to catch this.

Live from New Zealand. I just didn't feel like typing out the whole title. They haven't shown it in a long time, that I know of. I don't actually watch PBS that often, so if they did show it, I'd probably miss it. But I doubt they ever will. That's why she needs to do a new one! Ohhhh ok now I know what you mean Sorry about that! I guess I never really knew they showed that on PBS, mainly because I have it on DVD i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

But the first time I saw it was on PBS, but I didn't know it was going to be on. I had PBS on because Josh Groban's Live at the Greek show was airing for the first time, and I just happened to catch the last bit of Hayley's show. I was very disappointed that I'd missed it. Back then, though, I wasn't quite as into her music as I am now. I had her album, and liked some of the songs, but I wasn't into the classical side of crossover music that much yet. It wasn't until Odyssey that I was completely sold on Hayley.

It's nice to see we're on our annual "Breaking The States "https://i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifiscussion. It seems to bring some new members to HWI. Maybe we should make it a quarterly event. Larry I see it as an offshoot of the perennial 'Why Isn't Hayley More Popular?' debate, just with added stars & stripes *** As for Jackie & Katherine, well, good luck to them. If they can challenge attitudes towards CC and bring more people to look into the genre, sooner or later they will discover Hayley... And there's NO coming back from that, as we all know!

Katherine danced to To Where You Are (a cover, of course), and someone brought it to Josh Groban's attention on Twitter. To which he said, "Gorgeous!!" Now he knows who she is, if he didn't already. And, of course, more importantly, we know he likes Hayley's albums (via Nicola's last interview)! Josh himself has sung on DWTS twice now. Slightly off-topic, I know...

However, as I mentioned before, it would be great if she could perform on the show, as Katherine did. David Garrett performed, and you don't see him dancing on the show... yet. Hes has no time for something like this, he is always on the road.

I was just making the point that singing/performing on DWTS automatically gets you a dancing gig on the show! Otherwise, Josh Groban would have been on by now. He's performed there at least twice.

Any celebrity gaining fresh exposure on a dancing show is going to be remembered for how well they danced, not for their actual talent. What got them famous in the first place will take second place, especially if they wind up in third place.
Even though Katherine Jenkins performed well, in reality she was thoroughly outclassed by the professional dancers on the show, and so was every other celebrity who ever appeared on the show. Yes, she moved along nicely and made it look as good as an amateur could, and the judges take that into account when they lavish their praise upon her and her partner. But no judge would ever tell her to quit her day job. If Hayley or Josh were to go on DWTS they would lose even if they won, simply because their true talent is singing.

They should be in the headlines with their music and not with appearing in a soap opera.

Good point Steve! Hayley is a singer, and it is as a singer she should be known and recognised. Katherine, it seems, would like to be a celebrity first and a singer second. Or does she believe that her dancing will result in people taking interest in her as a singer?

I don't believe that to be a true statement. I have seen her many times in concert and met her once with Dazza and all the KJ fans who had traveled to Dublin. She is both charming and co operative with her fans. I do believe singing is her vocation.

But what has dancing got to do with that - personally I would rather hear her sing. I suspect my last sentence has it right. If she can get herself known in the USA, perhaps people will discover her as a singer. But, if all she wants to do is sing, and fame and fortune are less important to her, taking up dancing seems a strange thing to do! Unless, as I said, she sees it as a way to promote her music in the US. Martin D
