Hayley has to do her own thing.
Jackie Evancho is a little child, pushed by TV and other medias. I don't think Decca will organize a US tour for Hayley because Jackie Evancho is successful there at the moment.

Stevemacdonald:
Pls accept my appology for the HAYLEY spelling mistake......Comming from the colonies north of USA with its' myriad of english type of accents and squeezed from the East of Canada by a form of french, it sometimes becomes difficult ........we will overcome that problem.....I promise.
Inga:
I'm not sure if there is some misunderstanding about Jackie Evancho. She is not a child singer but rather a vocalist that happens to be a child. She is a child prodigy for which there is no comparison at her age. Any attempt to measure or evaluate her against standards is totally futile as prodigies by their very nature live and perform outside of the box.
You state that Hayley would not perform in the USA just because Jackie Evancho is experiencing some success at the moment. I can't help but think we are talking about different people. The USA is a very tough nut to crack with a music industry backed by 380 million people with easy access to all forms of communication. Classical Crossover is a genre that has until very recently struggled to maintain some sort of existence. Regardless what you may think about Jackie, she has, with help from Susan Boyle, Sarah Brightman, Katherine Jenkins and a host of others , caused a major stir in the music industry in the US as it pertains to classical style singing.
Jackie has NEVER made a comment about another CC artist that was other than sheer admiration. Jackie counts Hayley among those that she considers mentors. That being fine with her has caused me and other Jackie fans to expand our CC collections to include Hayley foremost in our collection. Simply, Hayley is that good.
I for one would dearly love to attend a concert of Hayley's in North America but particularly in the Canadian northwest.
I say to you Inga, rather than find fault with other CC artists (regardless of age or how new they may be to the genre ), try and find ways to make all CC artists a family and thereby give the genre strength.
If it would make you feel better after reading my post....by all means.....tear me apart....I have broad shoulders and it will keep the negatives away from the artists that we enjoy and admire.

Nobody's tearing you apart, Gordie. And spelling Hayley's name has nothing to do with one's accent. It's because many girls with that name spell it without the extra 'y', as well as various other spellings. It's completely understandable. I do agree with the second to last remark in your post, about all CC artists being a family. Recently, I've been very interested in Katherine Jenkins on DWTS in America. I have never been all that crazy about her voice; I'm not really into mezzo-soprano voices, or opera at all really (which means I don't care for Jackie, either). However, I still find myself very pleased that Katherine is on the show, and doing very well, too. I think this will be an even bigger thing for the CC music genre, than just Jackie by herself. Also, it's because I associate Katherine with Hayley, because I never would have heard of Katherine without first knowing about Hayley... I've heard of lots of CC artists I never would have otherwise because of my love of Hayley's music. Before Hayley, I couldn't say I was into CC music that much. So, maybe the same thing will happen to someone who becomes a fan of KJ as a result of her appearance on the show.

Thank you for your response. I must admit I'm a little in awe responding to someone with over 4k posts to this site, I have read many and never felt need to respond for / or against.
I have not responded in the past and you should accept that I have no disagreement with what you have posted. Until your last post, I would not have reacted in a way that would have seemed in disagreement.
Interestingly, I probably live within a couple hundred miles from you only separated by the 49th parallel. However, I do not appolgize for having a difference of opinion. I say this because too many have expert opinions but remain hidden behind a "user id". I say this because I am an expert and know better than anyone, as to what my ears enjoy .
I enjoy Jackie for what she has given me and I enjoy Hayley, Sarah, Katherine and others for what they have intentionally or otherwise given to me. Nobody can take fhose feelings from me and I will continue to listen to all those that affect me.
I really hope that Hayley and Jackie can meet someday to jointly further the CC genre....whether it be in North America, Europe or Asia.

Hi Gordie,
Greetings.
I agree with you. Whether or not Hayley chooses to make a major push in the states, the work that the likes of Jackie and Katherine are doing to popularise this kid of music won't hurt her, and may well help.
That being said, we don't actually know what kind of music will be on Hayley's next album, and it wouldn't surprise me to see a change of direction away from classical. She is currently being given licence to be herself, and who knows where that will lead.
Oh and I like both Katherine and Jackie before you ask. I first saw Hayley (live) back in 2004 because I went to a concert to see her support act - Katherine Jenkins. And as for Jackie - well, she has succeeded despite the worst that TV talent shows can do, and that is because she is a very talented young lady. I wish her well!

I'm not entirely sure what you're disagreeing with me about, since you don't really say. About Jackie? Well, I certainly do respect her talent, and I am glad that she's leading people to the genre and that she likes Hayley, even singing some of her songs. I just don't care for operatic tones; they just don't sound natural to me. When I first saw a video of Jackie singing, some time before she was ever on AGT, I thought she sounded nice. Now, she's way too operatic, and I just don't like it as much. I wish she would sing naturally again, because then I probably would like it. But, if she wants to do opera, then that's her choice. I just won't buy her albums, that's all. Nobody's stopping you from liking whichever singers you want. Just because some of us say we don't care for Jackie or whoever doesn't mean we think you shouldn't either. I really don't where you're getting that. And if it comes down to it, I'm an expert on what my ears enjoy too, and they just happen to enjoy Hayley's voice the most. Most people are experts on what they like.

Going back to Katherine...
On Good Morning America today, they had a short little feature on her. Before they went to commercial, I heard them say, "Coming up.... Who is Katherine Jenkins?" So, I stuck around and watched it. It was just a brief little thing about her growing up in Wales, her successful career... and yes, a bit about her drug issue, as well.
So you see, this is a pretty big thing for her career. If she keeps on doing well in the show, more and more people are going to be interested in her, and probably many will buy her albums (I've already seen comments on her dancing videos saying as much). That could mean she could tour here.
While I'd love for Hayley to have a big break like that, I just don't see her doing DWTS. Imagining her doing all those sensual Latin dances in skimpy outfits doesn't really seem to suit her, in my mind. However, as I mentioned before, it would be great if she could perform on the show, as Katherine did. David Garrett performed, and you don't see him dancing on the show... yet. I guess they wouldn't have them both on at once.

Hi Libby,
Yes, I agree. I can't imagine Hayley enjoying doing something like that, as Katherine clearly does. And Hayley has different priorities anyway.
As I've come to realise over the years. Hayley is a true musician. She loves performing and making music. Fame and money are very secondary to that, if they feature at all. So as long as she can make a living doing what she loves, she is happy. She is not after worldwide fame or mega riches I'm sure, even though we all know she has the talent to achieve those things.
In the end it is up to her. She sets great value on friendship, love, loyalty and family we know. If she comes to America, it won't be so much to make a lot of fame and fortune, as to give something back to her loyal fans over there. I'm sure she would love to do that, but she won't get the backing she needs unless she can show it is commercially viable. That might not be easy to do -so many foreign artists have fallen flat in the USA.
If Katherine makes it, and she has been struggling to be honest, it makes it easier for Hayley. But don't expect Hayley to prance around half naked - I just don't think she would feel comfortable with that.

If Hayley has to compromise her dress principles than I'd rather she stay in the U K. I think that (or hope that) she makes it here someday without doing anything different than she is doing now. Actually she's doing pretty good right now in the rest of the world.

It's nice to see we're on our annual "Breaking The States "discussion. It seems to bring some new members to HWI. Maybe we should make it a quarterly event.

And the more of you there are over there, the more likely it becomes that Hayley's people will see a US tour as a viable proposition. So keep at it! Martin D

It will happen in time anyway, maybe on a moderate level, as far those who care to go looking for something a little more special than run of the mill, flash in the pan pop, they will find it under their own steam, or by word of mouth from people with excellent taste in music like you and Libby and Joe and SteveMacDonald and Bob Carpenter and Dane and all the others we have come across occasionally and those we have yet to meet.

I wouldn't be turning the telly off and saying the Rosary instead, Hayley has a fine figure and she has done some dance training when she was younger, much of dance is about feeling the rhythym and moving with an elegance which Hayley already has in spades.
