The Wallabies have not won on that ground for 24 years (or anywhere in NZ for 10 years) and from the start it never looked likely. It seems the quarter final v. S.Africa in which they had to make almost 150 tackles took more out of Australia than we thought but even so, the Blacks were at their rampant best and maintained their great record against their old enemy. Until today they had won 92 out of 142 matches. On this form the French may as well board their plane home now. I can see no way they can win. Here in the UK bookies are asking for £10 to win £1 on NZ. (Still a better return than your bank!) That's how certain the bookies are that the Rugby World Cup 2011 is already done and dusted.
Incidentally, Welsh viewers will have noted that Sonny Bill Williams got a yellow card for a dangerous tackle but too late in the game to make a difference. They will also think it will be sweet justice for the Welsh if they beat Australia and win bronze in the 3rd place match on Friday.

They have to beat Australia before they need to worry about France. Very much. Yet. That was a great match to watch.. I have great faith in the All Blacks, Ireland had already beaten the Walabies, so it was fair to assume the All Blacks would do it too. I don't hold out much hope for France. How Wales did not beat them is beyond me. Unless they have been doing a "Hustle" up to now and pretending they are not up to much. "Que vive la France" anyway. That's where one side of my ancestors come from, so I gotta cheer for them anyway..

Well done All Blacks!! I didn't actually get to see the match but judging by the results it was a really good match. It's great that Hayley will actually be able to sing the NZ anthem next week- I'm really looking forward to that- and I wish the All Blacks good luck for next week- I think they will beat France though so maybe they don't need it too much haha best wishes Sing

Although I'm not a Rugby fan, I'm glad the All Blacks will be in the final, it would have been a bit of a let-down otherwise for Hayley and all Kiwis. Well done to them - and of course, I shall be supporting them (and hopefully making TV recording of Hayley singing) next weekend! Sadly, we may only get to hear Hayley sing the Anthem, with perhaps a few glimpses of her in between shots of the All Blacks. Anything more, or any extra songs would be a nice but unexpected bonus but they do tend to talk over everything but the anthems in these matches, we shall see. Cheers, Dave

It is absolutely essential that the All Blacks beat Les Bleus. After losing two group stage matches, and flaky wins over England and Wales, the French really don't deserve it. And with Hayley singing for them, how can the All Blacks lose? If I were an All Black, I would consider Hayley's contribution worth at least 10 points.
And as we saw today, the All Blacks play magnificent rugby. I'm looking forward to the final.

I actually feel bad for the French....well, their fans anyway.
In college, all of my friends were NY Yankees fans. When my team played them in the World Series, they faced almost certain demise after a few games. Knowing everyone is against you and the taunting....oh man, it was rough!

Yay!! Whenever I thought about which anthem Hayley might get to sing at the Final, I tried to tell myself that it would be great to hear her sing any anthem, especially if I get to see it on my own TV, but I just couldn't bring myself to believe she would really have to sing anything other than God Defend NZ. Anything else just didn't seem right. I am so glad she gets to sing it, and I hope the All Blacks win! Hey, all you rugby fans: At what point into the coverage do they show the anthems? Because I will have to work next Sun., but I will be home near the beginning of the game, at least when it's aired here. Is it like in the first 5 minutes, 15 minutes, or what? How much blabbing do the commentators do beforehand? And then how soon might I be able to see the ABs do their Maori dance thing? I really want to see that too! I'd like to see some of the game, too, since I've never watched rugby before, but I don't think I'll be able to watch much. Thanks!

Hi Libby
The Anthems are right at the start of the game. It should be French Anthem first then New Zealand as the host (but I'm not sure what the rules are for the RWC). The All Blacks will perform the haka 2 or 3 minutes after the second anthem
Cheers

The RWC Final is on NBC at 12 pm Pacific time, and lasts till 3pm. I leave for work at 1:30pm. I should be able to see Hayley sing before I leave, right?

Hi Libby and all, The National Anthems take place just before the start, 9 pm NZ time, so you should be able to see them (if they aren't hidden by an ad break!). That's 1 am Pacific time, if my calculation is correct! I was amused by some banter a few minutes ago on Talk Sport, which is broadcasting all the RWC radio commentaries in the UK. It went something like this: "You know we'll all be supporting New Zealand - forget the Northern Hemisphere thing..." I think he's right, and I don't just mean Hayley fans! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifCheers, Dave
