Well, another big weekend of Rugby World Cup ahead. All Blacks vs. France, USA vs. Australia (could be an ugly match for the Americans), England vs. Romania, Scotland vs. Argentina. Gonna be exciting, especially the big All Blacks vs. France match, as France has given the AB's fits in the past. In keeping with this spirit, I've joined in on making my profile picture one of the object of all our admiration. It is a picture I hope to see replicated on the field at Eden Park in about a month's time. Matt Hi Matt I've often wondered how the rugby players were able to avoid serious injury. Or maybe they don't. I really wish we had more coverage of the game here in the U S. Larry

Yes but by losing the French have an easier route to the final.

i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif I had great fun in Nelson watching USA play against Italy. Unfortunately Italy was too good. So USA has now finished and will go back home. While waiting for the game to start they played Santa Lucia by Hayley over the sound system i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif . But even though I waited for a long time after the game finished I never heard them play World In Union .

South Africa just beat Samoa 13 - 5 in a close exciting game. It means Wales will finish second to South Africa in this pool. And that means South Africa will meet Australia in one quarter final.

For much of today's match it seemed as if former England boss Andy Robinson would have his revenge over the side that sacked him as Scotland led from the start till the last 3 minutes when Ashton scored a try so England won 16-12 and advance to the 1/4 finals. Scotland who for most of the match were the better side must hope other results go in their favour.

The quarter finals are now complete:
Ireland v Wales, England v France, South Africa v Australia, New Zealand v Argentina
Interesting how the European sides are all on the easier side of the draw and so avoid "the big 3" until the final. France were so poor in their last match England should beat them. Wales were impressive too so Ireland will have their work cut out.
I expect England, Wales and New Zealand to progress. The South Africa - Australia match looks the hardest to call.

Yes Rodders, I must say it does feel as if the European sides are battling to earn the right to finish second to a southern hemisphere team. I'd be very surprised if the Webb Ellis Cup came north of the equator !

Okay, so after all these matches you mention, how do they then determine who plays against each other? So, if England beats France, New Zealand beats Argentina, etc., how do they determine who plays each other after that? I guess what I want to know is, who would NZ play next, based on who wins the other matches? I'm disappointed about the US, but not surprised. But I think it's great that they played Santa Lucia! Very appropriate at an Italian match! It would've been nice if they had played WIU too, but I think it's still good that they still played a Hayley song, anyway. It's good for the crowd to hear more of her songs than just WIU.

NZ play Argentina and South Africa play Australia. The winners play in the other semifinal. Then of course the two semifinal winners play in the final.
