I have to agree with Nicola. I don't think, or at least, I just can't imagine Hayley speaking in that sort of a tone. It all sounds quite fishy to me. This is not the Hayley I'm so used to hearing/reading. DM is just unbelievable sometimes.

I've left a few comments on that article complaining about the journalism, but I guess they don't like their writers criticised because none of them have made it through moderation.
The Daily Fail did this to Laura Wright last month - which wasn't as much about Laura as it was Katherine Jenkins. They made her sound arrogant and bitter.
As you may have guessed, I have a problem with that paper but I won't get political. I read the article before I found out where it came from - so I didn't judge this article according to had written it. I thought it was appalling as I read through it.

Is it extended hearing range that makes us Hayley fans ? Or am I just daft,, Interesting thought Paul. I too used to have exceptional hearing range - I used to hate the old TV sets when 625 lines first came in. They whistled - and it drove me mad. Most people I knew couldn't hear it. I measured it once with an oscillator - my cutoff was about 19.5KHz. I don't know if I could still hear it now - probably not since hearing range decreases with age. But maybe, just maybe - I can hear some of Hayley's higher harmonics. Might also explain why I prefer to hear her live, since CD and digital broadcast technologies can't reproduce those higher harmonics - the sample rate is too low. Martin D

Oh, and my thoughts on the article. Well, you are right Nicola - this is not great journalism. Factually wrong in a number of areas, but we do know some parts of it are correct, or at least loosely based on reality. And I can believe she cleans her own house - I can't imagine she wouldn't. But as you say - it is the Daily Mail (well actually The Mail on Sunday if I'm pedantic) so what do you expect.
Overall, it is exposure and exposure is good, so long as it doesn't actually lie about her. It did make her sound rather self-obsessed though I thought, which is not the Hayley I know.
Somebody did have a go on the comments, and since they attacked Hayley as well as the article, I said my two pennorth too, wondering whether that person who hails from New Zealand, was one of the people at her school who were jealous of her. And put in a plug for Paradiso for good measure.

I must admit when I saw the article yesterday I posted the link here before I had read it properly. I think overall it is a relatively good attempt at some publicity for Hayley but I think several of the comments are misquoted and the general tone of the article makes Hayley sound arrogant in places but as we all know that is not the case, I don't think they checked their facts or the tone of the article itself :/ I think the Mary-Jess article in today's paper is much much better but I also thought Laura Wright's article was centred mostly around Katherine Jenkins when it most certainly shouldn't have. I hope when they do their next article which I'm sure they will sometime soon, they check their information and how their article reads through!! best wishes Sing

Well, Sing, it does annoy me intensely when people attack Hayley out of ignorance. And I hate to see her misrepresented. We know what she is like. Why are so many people not prepared to believe she really is what she is? They think she is too good to be true, and are forever trying to find fault.
And that is not all, there was even a comment on Facebook the other day suggesting that she is not human!! What is she then - a space invader? I think she is more human and more alive than most. And hearing her sing makes me feel more alive too. I swallowed my annoyance at the errors in the article to get at the commenter who was trying to get to her.. She is very sensitive about being misrepresented I'm sure. And if I'd hammered the journalism too hard, I would have been moderated out. I'm too used to the BBC, who moderate out 90% of what I send them. I suspect because I don't have their political agenda. And yes, sometimes I feel the Mail is obsessed with Katherine Jenkins. I went out and bought today's, for the Hayley article, but that, like most issues, has a picture of Katherine. So it's good they mentioned Hayley, bad that the journalism is so sloppy.

One problem with an article like this is that it gets repeated. The NZ Hearald have repeated it, in part, and now wether or not that was what was said it has now become the" truth".

Hey everyone, This is in reference to fusilier23's above post regarding the accuracy of the "hamburger story". Hayley gave an interview on 12 March 2009 to a New Zealand radio station where she discussed this, and the two stories jive perfectly. I don't know if we can say that about the rest of what 'The Mail On Sunday' reported, but this they did get correct. Here is the link to the interview. The topic in question can be found around the 7:10 mark. www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDQqOG3rPFo&feature=youtube_gdata_playerMatt

If the NZ Herald repeats the errors regarding the ChCh memorial services....!! People who were there, and even those who saw it on TV, will know that they were most definitely not in a cathedral!

I thought it was a very good article. She came across as very down to Earth - ordinary person with extraordinary talent, as it were.
As far as actual research into any subject is concerned, though, I have to admit I would not trust the Daily Mail. They tend to be incredibly sloppy even with well known facts, let alone things that would require a bit of effort to dig out.
