Which in case you are wondering is an Italian TV show. Recording that will be a challenge for someone - do we have any Italian members? It will be broadcast on Thursday evening at 21.20 hours Italian time www.tv.mediaset.it/guidatv/I think it should be possible to watch live at www.tvdream.net/web-tv/canale5-in-diretta-streaming/Unfortunately, I won't be around at that time to try it. It looks as if you have to download a player to try it. That's assuming it works outside Italy. Anybody fancy a go? Martin D |

Looks like some dish swivelling and satellite receiver re-tuning is required, I will try that on Wednesday (I have all the necessary details). I just hope that if I can receive it, the broadcast stream is of better technical quality than the Greek one I recorded a while back. If I can, I'll start a new thread.  Dave |

Richard Hi Richard and everyone, Well I lived for 5 years less than 3 miles from Jodrell Bank, that could explain a thing or two! Martin and Jim, I have moved your posts to here, thanks for them! Anyway, dishes are now lined up, tuners tuned in and I am testing it for recording as I write. The transmission quality is better than the Greek one i did a while back, not quite as good as the local UK channels but not bad. For the technically minded, it's 720x576 video at 3.1 mbps mpeg2, letterboxed widescreen (so 720 x 405 effectively). Audio is 128 kbps .mp2, which should be OK (but you can never be sure with Hayley's voice, which needs a higher quality than normal). The satellite is Hot Bird 13 East, 11919 MHz V, transponder 60. But has anyone tried Martin D's internet stream? From what my research has revealed, the show, Io Canto, is a TV reality show like X-Factor, and this is the first of the third series. Competitors perform their own songs and the guest singers (like Hayley) may perform one or more duets with the competitors, as well as a solo of their own. Most of the guest singers seem to be Italian but last year, James Blunt and Leona Lewis were among the foreign guests part of the way through (not in the final). I am watching Canale 5 right now and they've just advertised tomorrow's show (no mention of Hayley though). The programme starts at 21:20 Italy time (20:20 BST) on Thursday 15th September and appears to last for nearly three hours! Programme details (Italian)Programme details (google translation)Note that according to Wikipedia, they may scramble the signal for some 'events' and if they do it for this show, I will not be able to receive it. But hopefully that's just for sports events. I doubt that we would have known about this until it was too late but for Hayley and her twitter, so, thank you Hayley!  Cheers, Dave |

Hi Ross, Me too, as we could need it if they scramble the show on satellite TV! Some of them are, some aren't so we shall see. The web stream is much lower quality than the TV broadcast but obviously much better than nothing. Could pop up on Youtube anyway. Cheers, Dave |
